August 19, 2020 Weekly COVID Updates

Ecola State Park has reopened with reduction in services/facilities. Some trails are CLOSED due to storm damage:

Indian Beach Trail from Ecola Point to Indian Beach is closed.
The north part of Crescent Beach Trail is closed.

Oregon OSHA proposes temporary rule to address COVID-19 in all workplaces. They are accepting public comments on the proposal through Monday, Aug. 31. Send comments to tech.web@oregon.gov. The division is scheduling virtual public forums to discuss the rule. The full text of the draft standard – as well as background documents and other up-to-date information – is now available.

Trash has been at the forefront of discussions & concerns these past few weeks. The three biggest issues are the increase in to-go containers, trash piling up around dumpsters, and masks being left on the beach. Messaging and strategies are being implemented from all levels of local & state agencies to curb the growing issue.

News from the State

Building a Safe and Strong Oregon

1) Governor Releases NEW updated School Health and Safety Metrics

Metrics set strict health and safety standards for in-person instruction, with accommodations for young learners, remote and rural schools.

Updated 8/11 Ready Schools, Safe Learners 2020 Guidance

2) Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and Nevada Announce Coordination on Telehealth.

3) First Month of Statewide Enforcement Efforts Finds Businesses Largely in Compliance with Face Covering, Physical Distancing Requirements

Over 3,600 businesses inspected since July 4th, statewide weekend inspections and enforcement to continue.

4) Governor announced effective Friday, July 24th:

Face Coverings

Face coverings will be required for all Oregonians ages five and up in indoor public spaces and outdoors when six feet of distance cannot be maintained.
Face coverings will be required even in cases of physical exertion indoors, and outdoors when six feet of distance cannot be maintained.

Businesses

The maximum indoor capacity limit is capped at 100 for all venues in Phase II counties and for restaurants and bars in Phase I or II counties.
Restaurants and bars will be required to stop serving customers at 10:00 PM statewide.

5) Masks are required in indoor public spaces and outdoors when not able to social distance statewide. Updated July 15 Face Covering/Mask Guidance. Updated Statewide social gatherings guidelines - limit 10 indoors

News from Clatsop County

The county has recorded a total of 91 cases since March 23. Eighty-four of those individuals have recovered; the others are convalescing at home.

KN95 masks are being distributed to Chambers & Cities for distribution to businesses and citizens, while supplies last. Take the Burn Rate & Request Survey by Monday (Aug 24th) at 3pm for pick-up at the Chamber next Wednesday, Aug 26th.
