September 16, 2020 Weekly COVID Updates

Greetings!

The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) announced today a new program to help people who work in Oregon and need to quarantine or isolate due to COVID-19 exposure, but do not have access to COVID-19-related paid sick leave. Employees can apply online starting Wednesday, September 16, at www.oregon.gov/covidpaidleave. On Friday, Sept. 18, masks will be distributed to the public at Cannon Beach Elementary School, 268 Beaver St., from 5 to 8 p.m.

Building a Safe and Strong Oregon

1) Governor Kate Brown Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency for 60 Days

2) Oregon Employment Department Approved to Begin Dispersing Lost Wages Assistance Benefits

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the Oregon Employment Department’s application for the Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program, a temporary emergency measure that gives an additional $300 per week to people who are out of work due to COVID-19 and who and are receiving unemployment benefits.

3) Governor Releases NEW updated School Health and Safety Metrics

Metrics set strict health and safety standards for in-person instruction, with accommodations for young learners, remote and rural schools.

4) Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and Nevada Announce Coordination on Telehealth.

5) First Month of Statewide Enforcement Efforts Finds Businesses Largely in Compliance with Face Covering, Physical Distancing Requirements

Over 3,600 businesses inspected since July 4th, statewide weekend inspections and enforcement to continue.

6) Governor announced effective Friday, July 24th:

Face Coverings

Face coverings will be required for all Oregonians ages five and up in indoor public spaces and outdoors when six feet of distance cannot be maintained.
Face coverings will be required even in cases of physical exertion indoors, and outdoors when six feet of distance cannot be maintained.

Businesses

The maximum indoor capacity limit is capped at 100 for all venues in Phase II counties and for restaurants and bars in Phase I or II counties.
Restaurants and bars will be required to stop serving customers at 10:00 PM statewide.

News from Clatsop County

The county has recorded a total of 105 cases since March. Ninety-seven of those individuals have recovered; the others are convalescing at home.

KN95 masks are being distributed to Chambers & Cities for distribution to businesses and citizens, while supplies last. Take the Burn Rate & Request Survey by Monday (Sept 21st) at 3pm for pick-up at the Chamber next Wednesday, Sept 23rd.
