OCA 2021 Outgoing Chair Ray Shannon invites all members to register for the OCA's Annual General Meeting at the Centurion Centre on March 24th, 2022.

The AGM will feature the following program:

4:30 to 6:30 p.m. - AGM Forum

2021 Chair Ray Shannon to report on OCA 2021 activities and financials and introduce 2022 Chair Tim Vizena of RW Tomlinson and Board of Directors.

Guest Speaker - By popular demand we are bringing back 2020 AGM speaker - Dr. Ian Lee, Associate Professor at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University.

Dr. Lee is a well known business and political commentator who will provide an overall Canadian economic overview adding insights as to the Ontario and Ottawa outlooks.

6:30 to 9:00 p.m. - Cocktail Reception with Gourmet Food Stations

Passage - Leonard Franceschini

1963 OCA President

Len Franceschini - Oct 26,1931- Jan 30, 2022 was the elected President of OCA in 1963. His 1963 portrait below hangs on the OCA Wall of Chairmen portraits. Read his OBITUARY to learn of Len's interesting and successful construction career and family life. His grandson Junior Gravel of JP Gravel Construction is carrying on the construction legacy.

April 12-13 OCA Symposium & Trade Show

Still a GO !

Message from 2021 OCA Chairman

We have our fingers crossed that by the time April 12 & 13 rolls around the industry will be able to safely attend in person our 3rd annual Construction Symposium & Trade Show at the EY Centre.

If circumstances dictate the event will be delayed to October of 2022.

I wish to emphasize the message to potential exhibitors that OCA is committed to hosting the Symposium & Trade Show in person in 2022 and that there is NO risk to reserving a trade show space now.

The website will have the most up to date information as well as featuring an interactive map of the trade show floor.

The 2-day Symposium program is detailed below and is downloadable off the website. As in the past attendance is free. Individual seminar registration will be opened up just prior to the Symposium.

REMINDER

2022 Membership Renewal

Time is running out to renew your 2022 OCA membership.

Please note, if you have not yet renewed your 2022 OCA membership, your member services will be disrupted as of February 17th, 2022. That includes access to the Link2Build platform.

To pay via credit card, the membership owner can simply log into your OCA profile by visiting the OCA website, login and click the renew button. You can also pay your renewal by cheque to 9 Antares Drive, Ottawa ON K2V 7E5.

To All Hockey Supporters

How to help bring hockey to at-risk and underprivileged youth

Keith Oster of Tal-Co is a huge hockey supporter just like so many reading this post and he asked if OCA could spread the word about Next Shift Canada which is working to make hockey accessible to every child possible by providing them with hockey gear, registration assistance and programs such as dryland camps and on-ice skills clinics.

This year Next Shift has partnered with the "Equipment for Kids" program supported by the Ottawa Senators Foundation, Canadian Tire and Hockey Eastern Ontario.
