August 18, 2023
Tuesday is our #PCR3FirstDay! Today we kicked off our all-staff assembly by recognizing our new staff (pictured above) as well as our staff with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service as Pirates! We are all getting excited for our #PCR3FirstDay on Tuesday, August 22!
Platte Purchase Middle School is Open!
It was great to see so many of our Platte Purchase Middle School families, as well as community members, former teachers, and business partners at our ribbon cutting and open house on August 10. Click here for photos from the event.

Platte Purchase Middle School will welcome our 6th-8th grade students in the southern attendance area of our school District on Tuesday! Click here for a brochure from the grand opening for details on the building's features as well as a map.
Got Character?
Pirates ROCK (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) is a program designed to surround our families with examples of strong character. Each month our community and schools focus on character and leadership and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits and skills. On Friday, September 1, we kick off our 18th year of our character education program! To celebrate, wear your orange and black on Friday, join the community from 5-6:30pm at Price Chopper in Platte City for a community tailgate, and enjoy free popcorn at the first home football game! See attached flier for details.
Back to School Dates
Click here for a list of back to school dates by building. The first day of school for the 2023-24 school year is Tuesday, August 22, 2023. We're looking forward to our #PCR3FirstDay!
School Supply Lists
Click here for lists of necessary school supplies for elementary and middle school students. Platte County High School teachers will inform students of needed supplies once school starts.
PowerSchool Parent Portal
Parents can use Parent Portal to keep up to date on grades and assignments (for students in grades 6-12), attendance, and we will soon have active links to meal payments and fees. Parents who did not receive their new PowerSchool Access ID and Password at registration days or back-to-school nights, can either pick theirs up at future back-to-school nights (PCHS, PCMS, Platte Purchase) or look for them to come home with elementary students next week.
Communication Reminders
There are several ways for parents to make sure they have up-to-date District information. This e-Treasures newsletter is sent monthly on the Friday after each Board of Education meeting, to all District families, staff, and any community member that signs up.

Another District communication medium is our School Messenger system that we use for phone calls and text notifications. As with any school district, PCR-3 must often contact hundreds of parents quickly for sudden changes in schedules due to emergencies, cancellation, or just important announcements.

If you have provided a cell phone number, parents can opt in to receive text alerts and messages. Simply text "YES" to 67587 (standard text messaging fees apply). New families should have received an opt-in text this week.
PCR-3 Community Advisory: Apply by September 25
Platte County School District recognizes the importance of community input to help set the future direction of our schools.

We will be kicking off another year of the PCR-3 Community Advisory by gathering volunteers who will have an ongoing role to review the District’s progress toward its Comprehensive Strategic Improvement Plan goals, as well as to provide input regarding the District's general operation and specific issues impacting education activities and programs. Any District resident, employee, or student may participate in the ongoing work of this group.

We will be reaching out to existing members about continuing their participation and are now opening membership up to new members. If interested in serving on this advisory, please complete the application linked below by September 25. The first General Membership meeting will be held October 3.
Activities Passes Now Available
PCHS will be offering Individual and Family Athletics Passes for the 2023-24 school year through HomeTown Ticketing! Passes are good for all home contests, except tournaments and MSHSAA events. Family pass holders must live in the same household.

Click below to purchase your K-8 student ($58), single adult ($83), or family passes ($183 for a family of 4, $203 for a family of 6). An additional processing fee is also charged during checkout. PCHS students can attend PCHS activities for free with a valid School ID. Persons 55 years of age or older are given free admission to any district sponsored event or activity upon presentation of identification to verify age.
Pirate Pride: NCC Recognized as Pacesetter
For the Pirate Pride portion of the August meeting, the Board recognized Northland Career Center, who has been designated a National Pacesetter School for the fifth straight year. Southern Regional Educational Board's (SREB) Pacesetter School Awards recognize schools that are implementing SREB’s Making Schools Work school improvement frameworks and are achieving success in meeting bold goals related to increases in student graduation rates, readiness for college and careers, and credential attainment.
2021 Bond Program Update
Each month, project managers for our 2021 Bond Program projects, provide an update on construction projects taking place throughout the District. At the August meeting, project managers with McCown Gordon, reviewed the final construction progress update of the Platte Purchase Middle School project.
