Re-Enrollment: Please Complete ASAP

For Families with Returning Students: Thank you to the families who have already completed re-enrollment! Since opening registration on July 1, more than 57% of our 4,000+ returning students have been re-enrolled for the upcoming school year.

If you haven't yet completed your student's re-enrollment, simply log on to your PowerSchool ParentPortal (from a browser) and select "Returning Student Registration." from the navigation menu. Completing this process each year ensures your student's contact, health, and transportation information is accurate so we can prepare for a successful start to the school year. If your student will not be returning to PCR-3 for the upcoming school year, please contact the District office (816-858-5420) to let us know.

PCR-3 Community Advisory: Apply by Sept. 1

Platte County School District values community input in shaping the future of our schools. We’re kicking off another year of the PCR-3 Community Advisory, a group that reviews progress on our strategic plan and provides input on District operations and educational programs.

All residents, employees, and students are welcome to join. Current members will be contacted about continuing. If interested, new members should apply by September 1. The first general membership meeting is October 6.

Y Club Enrollment for 2026-27

The Before and After School Program available to families at PCR-3 is Y Club. Children in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade benefit from homework enrichment, physical activity, and small and large group activities with a focus on building community and youth voice and leadership. Full-time and part-time Y Club is available at each of our elementary buildings, and two pre-K sites, along with Y Club on days when school is out of session for inclement weather, seasonal breaks, and other days off (enrollment permitting). Operating hours are each weekday from 6:30am until school begins, and again after school until 6pm. Registration is now open. Meal Price Increases for 2026-27 School Year

Each year, the District carefully evaluates its school meal program in several key areas. It is PCR-3's intent to operate the school meal program on a break-even basis, as a self-sustaining service rather than a source of revenue. Following a detailed review that included USDA paid lunch equity formulas, historical PCR-3 meal prices, comparisons with surrounding districts, and increases in supply chain and food service operating costs, the Board of Education approved a $0.10 increase to lunch prices for Kindergarten through 12th grade, a $0.05 increase to extra milk prices, and a $0.20 increase to adult lunch prices. This change will go into effect at the start of the 2026-27 school year. Please see the updated meal pricing below:

• Breakfast (K-12): $2.10 (currently $2.00)
• Lunch (K-5): $3.00 (currently $2.90)
• Lunch (6-12): $3.10 (currently $3.00)
• Lunch (Adult): $4.25 (currently 4.05)
• Extra Milk: $0.60 (currently $0.55)

Pirate Pride: Charlotte Sweet

For the Pirate Pride portion of the July meeting, the Board recognized Charlotte Sweet, for becoming the first PCHS student to win the regional Jimmy Awards competition and advance to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City. Charlotte performed alongside 116 of the nation's top high school musical theatre students and earned one of just six Outstanding Performer in an Ensemble Scholarships, receiving a $2,500 scholarship. This fall, Charlotte will continue her education at Indiana University Bloomington, where she will pursue a degree in Fine Arts.

2025 Bond Issue Project Update

Dr. Devin Doll, Executive Director of Operations, reviewed construction progress of our 2025 Bond Projects.

PCHS Phase 2: The new east parking lot and Paxton parking lot has been graded to subgrade, and the curbs and gutters will be installed in the coming weeks with paving to follow. In the two-story classroom wing, ceilings are being installed, along with casework and flooring on level one. The library media center is wrapping up drywall tape, sand, and finish, while drywall is being completed in the band and vocal wing. Metal wall paneling is working around the building with the new PCR-3 orange panels installed at the front of the building.


Compass Elementary Parking Improvements: Grading and layout of the new parking lot and storm boxes have been completed, along with completion of the light pole bases. Curbs are scheduled to start in the coming days with pavement to follow in mid-July. The lower parking lot has been rocked, and the sub drainage has been installed. The playground hard play surface has been graded and is ready for asphalt.

NWDC Project Update

Dr. Devin Doll, Executive Director of Operations, reviewed construction progress of the Northland Workforce Development Center. Construction continues to make steady progress throughout the building. Both floors of the NWDC are now well underway with overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing as well as interior wall framing and in-wall rough in ongoing. The exterior of the building continues to have girts, spray foam, and roofing installed. Framing and glass for exterior windows has begun. In the coming weeks, we will begin installing the building’s metal wall panels. Weather pending, we are scheduled to install the base course of asphalt on the west half of the site in July.

Communications & Public Relations Strategic Plan Update

Laura Hulett, Director of Communications, shared with the Board a Strategic Plan Update of the District's Communication and Public Relations program.

As part of the District’s ongoing efforts to strengthening communication, engagement, and partnerships that support student learning and success, the update highlighted accomplishments from 2025-26, including improved communication effectiveness and satisfaction, stronger school-to-home academic communication and celebrations, and expanded community engagement.

Key strategic actions for 2026-27 include leveraging new communication technologies, increasing the visibility of the PCR-3 brand, expanding the use of diverse channels to enhance community awareness and participation, developing celebration events for various groups represented in our community, and implementing engagement opportunities for community senior citizens and District retirees.

Pirate Alumni: Mark your calendars for October 2-4, 2026 as we celebrate an All-School Reunion Weekend! Plans are underway for a meaningful weekend tied to Homecoming, giving Pirates from every class the chance to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate memories.
