Fall Activities Update
Football: Undefeated District Champs; State Quarterfinals tonight at Webb City.
Volleyball: District Champs; completed season earning a 4th place State trophy.
Boys Soccer: Finished season in the District Semifinals.
Girls Tennis: Maggie McBratney earned PCHS's 1st individual State medal.
Boys Swimming: State medals earned and school records set by Deacon Gutshall (200 & 500 Free and 100 Butterfly), Palmer Keith (200 IM and 100 Breaststroke).
Cross Country: Boys team finished 5th at State with Tyler Jenks and Blake Herron medaling; Girls finished 10th with Tyler Stambersky medaling.
Vocal Music: 11 students receive All-State honors.
Band: 45 All-District students selected with 25 eligible to audition for All-State.

Three PCR-3 Students Selected for All-State Children's Choir
Three PCR-3 vocalists have been selected to the 5th Annual All-State Children's Choir. Congratulations to 5th graders, Easton Bankey and Marley Danbury and 4th grader Maclin Parrish from Siegrist Elementary.
Their voices were selected to join 125 others from across the state out of more than 1,000 Missouri 4th and 5th graders who sent in auditions. They will perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association Convention on January 28, in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Inclement Weather Planning
Please visit the Winter Weather Information page on the Parents Tab of the District website for information on recess and clothing considerations (there will be no outdoor recess when the wind chill is at 20 degrees or below), cancellations, two-hour delayed starts, how the District will notify families, and Y-Club info.
In the event of school cancellation or delayed start, PCR-3 will get that information out as early as possible through automated phone calls and text messages, the District website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the District Hotline (816-858-2752), and local media. Parents: To opt in to receive texts, please text the word "YES" to 67587.
For the 2024-25 school year, PCR-3 will implement Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days for the first five canceled school days. These days will not need to be made up. Board of Education Member Filing
Persons wishing to file as candidates for election to the Board of Education of the Platte County R-3 School District must file (in accordance with Board Policy BBB) at the District Education Center located at 998 Platte Falls Road, Platte City, Missouri, 64079.
Filing opens on December 10, 2024, and will be open for all candidates at 8:00 am. Candidate filing will continue via the schedule below until its conclusion on December 31, 2024 at 5:00 pm. To make an appointment, contact Danielle Nickell at nickell.danielle@pcr3schools.org or 816-858-5420.

Community Survey
As part of its effort to continually engage our community, our District recently completed a public opinion survey. Interviews were conducted with randomly selected registered voters by telephone to learn views on the District's performance, and on ideas being considered for a potential ballot issue.
An electronic version of the survey will go live on December 2. A link to the survey will be posted on our website and sent to families via email.

Accepting Hall of Fame Nominations Until Dec. 1
Do you know of a special volunteer, former teacher/employee, or someone who has contributed significantly to the enhancement of the Platte County R-3 School District or has had outstanding accomplishments after graduating from PCHS? If so, now is the time to recognize those special individuals. The PCHS Booster Club is now taking applications for the 2024-25 Hall of Fame through December 1, 2024. The Hall of Fame will induct new members on January 29, 2025.

Pirate Pride: Friday Morning Lights
For the Pirate Pride portion of the November meeting, the Board of Education recognized Devan Foos, PCHS Journalism Teacher, for her efforts to highlight our Pirate Pride on a national level. The Today Show featured Platte County High School on November 8 for their final "Friday Morning Lights" segment of the season. PCHS's head football coach Bill Utz was interviewed, and PCHS's football team, band, cheerleaders, color guard, and dance team, along with a crowd of Pirate fans showed up bright and early to be featured. SCHIVIR Me Timbers Staff Recognition
Each month, PCR-3 recognizes staff members who are living our "SCHIVIR Me Timbers" award. SCHIVIR is an acronym for our values: Student Focus, Collaboration, High Expectations, Integrity, Visionary Leadership, Innovation, and Results Orientation.
At the November board meeting, administrative assistants from Siegrist Elementary, Tracy Itao, AnneMarie Klopp, and Berenice Mausolf, were recognized for living all of our values while creating a welcoming environment at their school and providing meaningful experiences and helpful service to their students, staff, and families.

Board Considers April 2025 No Tax Increase Bond Issue
At the November meeting, the Board of Education reviewed details for a potential April 8, 2025, No-Tax-Rate-Increase Bond Issue. Members examined bonding capacity details and sample ballot language provided by the District's bond underwriter, Raymond James, as well as design and construction planning updates from Dr. Devin Doll, Executive Director of Facilities and Operations alongside Incite Design architects.
If approved by voters, this approximately $65 million bond issue would fund the following projects identified in the District’s Long-Range Facility Plan:
- Completing Phase 2 of the PCHS Rebuild
- Constructing site amenities at Platte Purchase Middle School activities complex
- Constructing a new playground at Pathfinder Elementary
- Expanding parking and improving traffic flow and safety at Compass Elementary

Teaching and Learning System Key Process Update
At the November meeting, Dr. Alicia Casey, Executive Director of Teaching & Learning, presented a key process update on the District's Teaching and Learning System, outlining progress in key areas aligned with the following strategic actions:
- Building a comprehensive Teaching & Learning System to deliver programs of excellence.
- Implementing a high-performing team structure to enhance collaboration and support data-informed decision-making.
- Executing a comprehensive curriculum plan to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students.
- Enhancing our comprehensive assessment system to monitor and continuously improve teaching and learning.
- Implementing a Behavior Management Framework to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Delivering high-quality professional development that is meaningful, relevant, and rooted in educational best practices.

Platte City Holiday Lighting
Come join the community at the Platte City Holiday Lighting Celebration on Wednesday November 27, downtown Platte City, starting at 5pm. October and November character/leadership students will be recognized at the event and PCHS's Concert Choir, Treasures Dance Team, and Barry Elementary's 4th/5th Grade Choir will be performing! Community Band Concert - Dec. 15
The Platte City Community Band presents "A Merry Quirky Christmas"! This will be a "fun" and "funny" holiday concert PLUS Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to visit with the children!
