BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Pirate Pride: Professional Development Committee

For the Pirate Pride portion of the April meeting, we recognized PCR-3's Professional Development Committee (Rebecca Anderson, Sara Price, Bridget Klingele, Jessica Chiddix, Courtney Shaw, Madeline Hay, Derek Yost, and Kendall Fuller) for receiving the 2025 Outstanding Team award from Missouri Learning Forward. This recognition honors their outstanding collaboration and the significant impact they have made on professional growth across our District. The Board also recognized Jessica Chiddix for being named an Exemplary Educator, due to her dedication, innovation, and excellence in the classroom.

PCHS Senior Karlee Riggs Awarded Belcher Scholarship

At the April meeting, PCHS Senior Karlee Riggs was announced as the regional winner of a $1,000 scholarship awarded by FutureBuilders, the education foundation of the Missouri School Boards’ Association. A scholarship is awarded to a student in each of MSBA's 17 regions. From that group a statewide winner will be selected. Applicants were judged on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. More than 250 applications were submitted this year. MSBA and FutureBuilders established the scholarship program in memory of John T. Belcher, who was instrumental in developing innovative financing programs for Missouri school districts. The learning environment for thousands of Missouri's public schools’ students was improved as a result of his work.

SCHIVIR Me Timbers Staff Recognition

Each month, PCR-3 recognizes staff members who are living our vision, mission, and values, by presenting the "SCHIVIR Me Timbers" award. SCHIVIR is an acronym for our values: Student Focus, Collaboration, High Expectations, Integrity, Visionary Leadership, Innovation, and Results Orientation.

At the April board meeting, we recognized Jan Holderbaum, Ashley Kelly, Cassandra Rush, Julie Romney, Joyce Born, Amy Poncavage, Hollie Finnell, Kristin Joplin, Diane McKinney, Codie Wiswell, and Becky Swindler, staff members in our Great Beginnings program, for their exceptional demonstration of Collaboration, Student Focus, and Results Orientation.

PCHS Track, Field, and Tennis Courts Improvements Approved

At the April meeting, the Board approved bids for the replacement of PCHS's 400-meter, 8-lane track as well as resurfacing PCHS's tennis courts. The track replacement is part of the April 2025 bond program, and the tennis court improvements are part of our annual capital improvement projects. PCHS's all weather polyurethane track surface has not been replaced since it was first installed. Construction on the track replacement will begin May 19, and access to the track and field will be restricted during construction.

Middle School Strategic Plan Update

Leadership teams from Platte Purchase Middle School and Platte City Middle School, along with Dr. Aaron Duff, Director of Secondary Education, provided the Board with a middle school strategic plan update at the April meeting. Click here to view the presentation.
