School board considers update to new Bonham, Nimitz boundaries

Tuesday night, school board members reviewed two changes to the new boundary lines for Bonham and Nimitz. You can see the updated proposal here. The two areas in yellow were originally flip-flopped between the schools but suggestions from community members led to these changes. The area south of Bonham creates a more sensible neighborhood concept, and the area east of Grandview means students do not have to cross one of the city's busiest streets to get to their school. There are equal numbers of students (92 in one, 93 in the other) in each affected neighborhood, so the overall enrollment at the schools remains even. The school board will vote on this proposed update next week.

Celebrating our Veterans

Noel Elementary 3rd Graders, under the direction of Jaime Conaster, honored American Veterans Tuesday evening with a variety of Patriotic songs. The tear jerker was when the Veterans were asked to stand while the children sang "We Are Proud of Our Veterans." The 3rd-grade students were surprised when 6th grade teacher Sylvia Feil showed up in Class A uniform after her 3rd visit to the Middle East. We are so proud of our Veteran Ms. Feil!

We also invite you to our Ector County ISD Facebook page where we have posted albums of pictures from celebrations at Ross Elementary and Hays Elementary.
