County tests over 22,000 thru June, identifies over 500 positive cases
New Castle County performed 22,476 individual COVID-19 tests during the month of June. The testing effort expanded from an initial five sites a week to ten, enabling testing to grow exponentially each week. The testing has identified 510 positive cases of the novel coronavirus, further helping officials to control the spread of the disease which has claimed the lives of over 500 Delawareans since the start of the outbreak. Testing will continue in July and case rates are expected to increase as reopening has led to more face-to-face interaction. If you'd like to get tested, tests are free, easy and painless. The funding has enabled the county to expand testing sites to two per day, five days a week and grow daily testing capacity to over 1,000 tests per testing day.
