Working Waterfronts
In the state of Rhode Island, there are various working waterfronts including Wickford Harbor, Newport Pier 9, Little Compton, and Pt. Judith.
"Working waterfront" means land, piers, wharves and other improvements to land, adjacent to the navigable coastal waters of a state that are used by commercial fisheries businesses. The working waterfront is made up of businesses and industries that are dedicated to enhancing trade, commerce, and tourism. We use ports and working waterfront to manage and monitor fisheries in a sustainable way.
