Columbia's NEW Electroless Nickel Process

MARQUEE ENVY MP-O8

This process for mid phosphorous electroless nickel plating is RoHS compliant and does not contain any lead or cadmium to meet ELV requirements. It has a fast deposition rate throughout the life of the bath and is a simple two component add back system with an easy-to-use 1:1 replenishment rate. The process meets ASTM-B-733 and AMS 2404 C specifications while providing a deep, brilliant decorative finish, producing uniform plating thickness and hardness, and offers excellent stability with a long solution life. This process is also available as a self-regulating system.

Q: We process a large variety of machined parts in our plating shop, and we find that some of the rust inhibitors they are coated with are easy to clean off while others are very difficult to remove, which causes our reject rates to increase. Can you provide an overview of the different rust inhibitors to help us understand what may be causing these issues?

A: Handling parts that come in with a variety of often unknown oils and compounds on them is a common scenario for plating shops and can easily cause issues. The type of inhibitor used depends on factors such as material composition, storage conditions, and end-use requirements. Each type of inhibitor presents unique challenges for plating shops, requiring tailored cleaning processes to ensure optimal adhesion and plating quality. When dealing with oil- vs. water-based formulations...Read More Here
