My One Word
A New Four-Week Study Begins August 1
Do you have a long list of things to get done as Summer comes to a close? Instead of focusing on everything at one time, what if we focused on one thing at a time? Join us for a four week study on Sunday mornings guided by the concept of choosing one word to focus on for the year. We believe this is a great time to set spiritual intentions as we head into the Fall. This class will meet 9:30-10:30am in the DAC beginning Sunday, August 1.If you would like to know more of what this series will look like you can visit www.myoneword.org. Contact Pastor Lauren with questions.
Every Wednesday through October 27 at 10am, Pastor Jason and Pastor Lauren will gather in the Sanctuary for Underground Seminary. During this session of Underground Seminary we'll journey together through the book of Mark, verse by verse, in hope of gaining a deeper understanding of who we are and who God is. This event will also be Livestreamed each week if you are unable to gather in person. Grab your Bible and a journal and let's go to Seminary together! No registration required.
Summer Theater Workshop

All three Seussical, Jr. performances are free and donations will benefit the Methodist Children's Home in Waco. Come and celebrate all the hard work these students and volunteers put into this workshop!

Parents Supporting Their Children Through Mental Health Struggles
For years, children, teens and young adults with mental health issues in America have had to endure this taboo topic alone. However, the dramatic rise in mental health issues during the COVID pandemic brought it to the forefront. One big question remains unanswered, though: who helps the parents? Here at KUMC, we are taking the first step in helping the helpers. Parents, you are not alone. This group provides parents with a support group to find strength through shared experience. Sunday, August 8, this group will have their monthly meeting in DAC 413, at 2pm, to share in common stories, get needed information that is not readily available and find community and comfort in knowing you are not alone in the fight to help your child.

How Can I Serve?
Have you thought about getting involved in our church but just don’t know how to connect? You may not feel like you have anything to offer, or you are just not sure where you might fit in. The Lay Leadership committee wants to help. They are ready to answer your questions and help you find a good fit. Whether it's serving as an usher, teaching Sunday School, greeting, serving on one of our committees, or helping with any of the dozens of other ministries, serving others is an important step in helping hearts to turn toward God and neighbor.
The Lay Leadership Committee has made it easy to take the first step. Just email firstname.lastname@example.org and one of their committee members will follow up. They look forward to hearing from you. If you filled out the questionnaire regarding talents and gifts, the Committee will be making calls to follow up in the next few weeks.
Please notify your church family at 817-431-1332 if you or a loved one are hospitalized, or if there has been a birth, death or wedding in your family. If you are in need of pastoral care, let us know and pastoral staff will respond.
