The Holiday season is upon us and we want to take the opportunity to express our gratitude to all our players and parents for your commitment to the game. Our Skills Development programs at both Cedar Springs Club and Toronto Tennis City are finishing up the Fall session as our High Performance players are pushing on and many of them will be participating in the Super Series Tournaments over the holidays, and then go full steam again in January. The ACE Skills Development Winter Session starts early January at both locations and our programs are all filled up!

Tennis Directors at Toronto Tennis City; Radu Popescu and Lisa Tooley along with Burlington Directors: Kirill Kudyma, Walker Lamarche and Luis Palacios continue to supervise programs in which all our coaches follow curriculum outlined in the programs' annual plans, in order to maximize growth and development of our players.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Doug Burke

President

ACE Tennis & ACSM

"We take our commitment to growing the game very seriously; and we are excited, as, resulting from our efforts over the years in putting together the ACE System - a system of development, which incorporates the assistance of various experts, continually guided by Tennis Canada's Long Term Athlete Development outline - we are now in the latter stages of providing a six month test/prototype Little Aces (red ball) program. The program will be implemented along with several partner clubs between January and June of 2024.

We are also thrilled to inform you that All Canadian Sports Management is working closely with the Port Hope Racquet Club to establish an indoor tennis facility in Port Hope for the Fall of 2024. This facility would be a tremendous boost for tennis development in the region, as it will be the only dedicated, indoor tennis facility in the Northumberland, Quinte and Peterborough regions. It will provide year round access to tennis for residents of all ages from the surrounding communities, developmental and outreach programs that open up a plethora of opportunities for young athletes. The club will also be a venue for the hosting of regional, provincial and national tournaments."

"So far, the ACE fall season has been extremely busy with sold out programming! The majority of players are involved in two or more classes a week in either the progressive or competitive stream", says Tennis Director Radu Popescu. "Our holiday season is fast approaching, and so is our popular Holiday Camp, commencing the first week of the new year. The camp is looking to fill up as well, and with the U18 Super Series and 5.0 OPEN Tournament starting on Dec 29th, we will have a very busy holiday season.

This is my first year as Director of Tennis & Academy Director at Toronto Tennis City and it has been a very positive experience! There is a lot of work involved, but we have already seen so many positive results throughout in our Academy and adult memberships. I look forward to seeing Toronto Tennis City grow further! " Radu, along with General Manager Michael Zimmerman, run the popular club midtown Toronto.

Radu took over the role as Tennis Director at TTC as of last year, and comes with a wealth of experience. For the last 18 years he has worked with players of all levels and has managed and coached professional athletes on professional tours including ATP, WTA, Challenger and Futures tours. Radu is a former OTA top 25 ranked player and also played Varsity level soccer for Dalhousie University.

LITTLE ACES

The start of Competitive Tennis

Little Aces Team is for younger players who have already been exposed to the fundamentals of tennis and are able to rally over the net. Regular practice is key to improvements. The content is based on LTAD - Long Term Athlete Development - structure, so players have to participate at least 2 - 3 sessions a week which includes at least 1 hour of fitness. We currently have 38 young players participating in the Little Aces Teams in Burlington and Toronto.

ACE Tennis is collaborating with Simon Legare Frappe system - which encompasses the on-court component of the program based on four learning programs while providing fundamental technical points to be respected. The approach has been endorsed by over 20 Quebec clubs and municipalities and the prototype is currently being tested in the following clubs across Canada: The Tennis Centre and Kamloops Tennis Centre in BC, Complexe Tennis St-Augustin, Tennis 3R {Trois- Rivieres}, Academie De Tennis Junior Menard-Girardin Inc. as well as ACE Burlington and ACE Toronto,

PLAYER PROFILE

BIANCA CERONI

U16 National Doubles Champion Bianca Ceroni has been with us for many years, progressing through our programs to join our National / International program, and could crown herself with the National Doubles title alongside Andrea Cabio this summer. ACE President Doug Burke reflects on her tennis journey. "She always seemed to have a quiet, discreet disposition, with no intention of ruffling feathers. Our former Tennis Director Mike Hall worked with her for a while as her private coach, and along with her physical assets of strength was able to instil solid technical skills in Bianca.

"LITTLE MO" INTERNATIONAL

TOURNAMENT

Coach Walker Lamarche went to Florida with a group of ACE players and their parents. "This was my 4th time attending this tournament and it is such a special event. There were over 700 participants from about 70 countries, including 80 plus from Canada. We usually bring 4-5 players from ACE down to the event, but this year a total of 16 players went. We had multiple training days where other Canadians came to play doubles as well. At one point we had a total of 32 of us for dinner, with parents and extended families! Aila Ishkanian reached the finals of her mixed doubles draw, Madalina - Maddie - Ulianovschi reached the quarterfinals in hers, and Lincoln Coons and Ishan Lalka beat the 1st seeds in doubles.

The "Little Mo" tournaments feature the youngest and brightest stars in junior tennis. so our players were up against some tough competition, but what is most important to note was that I saw our players making new friends and experience the daily life of a busy tennis player. They are all such great kids and it was a pleasure to spend the week with everyone."

PORT HOPE RACQUET CLUB

Growing the Game

BRINGING YEAR- ROUND TENNIS TO THE COMMUNITY

The Port Hope Racquet Club (PHRC), ACE Tennis and The Municipality of Port Hope are delighted to announce their game-changing initiative to expand the Municipality’s current tennis facilities and install a 4-court dome during the fall and winter months.

Press Release

Lisa Tooley is Head Coach at the Port Hope Racquet Club where ACE have been offering programs during the outdoor season for the last 2 years. She is also Director of Growing the Game.

Lisa elaborates; "Last spring, ACE Tennis was trying to help Port Hope achieve its goal of expanding its club and potentially turning it into a year-round facility. Recognizing they did not have the resources locally, I considered this an opportunity, as a Toronto Tennis City coach and east ender, to help bring these aspirations to life. In their desire to grow tennis in the community, the Port Hope board hired me as both head pro and club and manager.

While the first involved running both junior and adult programs, the latter involved bringing people out to play, practice, compete and socialize. Doubles leagues, singles ladders, junior leagues were created, culminating with first-ever events, including an under 12 team competing in the regional “Tennis ROCKS” event in Ajax and a Davis Cup adult event, an annual tradition for the years to come."

Tennis is alive and well and on the rise in Port Hope!
