BAY REGION COE ANNOUNCEMENT

June 2026

NEW REPORT: APPRENTICESHIPS IN THE BAY REGION

The Bay Region Center of Excellence (COE) recently released a new report, Apprenticeships in the Bay Region: An Integrated Analysis Using Workforce and Education Data, which provides an overview of apprenticeship activity across the region. The report examines apprenticeship participation using data from the California Department of Industrial Relations' Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and California Community Colleges student enrollment data.

The report highlights regional trends in apprenticeship participation, including changes over time, geographic distribution across Bay Region counties, program enrollment at community colleges, and sector-specific apprenticeship activity. In addition, the report examines demographic characteristics of apprentices and community college apprenticeship students, including age, gender, and race/ethnicity, to better understand equity and access within apprenticeship pathways.

By combining workforce and education data, the report serves as a valuable resource for community colleges, workforce development boards, industry partners, and policymakers seeking to strengthen apprenticeship opportunities and align workforce training with regional labor market needs. The findings can support strategic planning, program development, funding proposals, and efforts to expand equitable access to apprenticeship pathways throughout the Bay Region.

NEW BAY AREA INTERACTIVE POPULATION DASHBOARD

We are excited to share our new Interactive Bay Population Dashboard, designed to help users explore demographic trends and population changes across the Bay Region through easy-to-use visualizations and interactive filters.

The dashboard includes:

  • Population trends from 2019 to the most recent available year
  • County, subregion, and Bay Region demographic comparisons
  • Population distributions by age, race/ethnicity, and gender

We encourage you to explore the dashboard, compare demographic trends across counties and subregions, and use these insights to support planning, program development, enrollment discussions, workforce initiatives, and community decision-making.

CLNA REPORTS: REQUEST FOR COLLEGE SUBMISSIONS

Congratulations to all Bay Region colleges on successfully submitting your 2026 CLNA applications by the May 29 deadline.

As we look ahead to the next CLNA cycle in two years, the Bay Region Center of Excellence (COE) would like to better understand colleges' approaches to completing the reports and identify opportunities to improve data support.

We invite colleges to share a copy of their completed CLNA report with the Bay Region COE. Reports will be used only by the Bay Region COE to identify common themes and information needs and will not be shared without permission. If you are open to having your report shared with other colleges as a learning resource, please let us know in your email.

Please email your report to marcela@baccc.net. Thank you for helping us strengthen regional collaboration and support future CLNA efforts.
