Thank you to everyone for participation in National Night Out and Lemonade Day!
Updates on some projects:
Community Aggregation is a popular topic, and we are excited to see this project develop. Learn more about the program by reading materials here, and ask your questions to Titan Energy directly by attending the Public Hearing on September 14th.
We are continuing our due diligence for a title and environmental testing as we prepare to close out the acquisition of 1307 Park Street, our new proposed home for our Department of Works facility.
We continue to make progress on our Complete Streets project creating pedestrian- safe spaces throughout our community featuring sidewalks down Thorndike Street, installing ADA ramps and beacon lights at high priority intersection locations. Final bid specifications are in the last stages and are being put together by our consultant and DPW Director.
The Recreation Committee and Parks Team are meeting to discuss a Field Use Policy and Fee Schedule to better serve the community.
24 Converse Street has a new RFP Available. Interested parties may request the RFP by emailing the Town Manager, Brad Brothers directly. Proposals are due by 3 pm on October 1, 2026. Learn more about this opportunity here.

School is back in session!
All community members PLEASE drive extra cautiously during your commute.
Drive slowly near school zones, and pedestrian crosswalks. Look for the illuminated beacons indicating when someone wishes to cross the road.
Stop for school buses
When approaching a school bus that is stopped to pick up or drop off students with its red lights flashing, vehicles must come to a full stop and remain stopped until the signals are turned off.
Here’s what to remember:
- All roads: Drivers approaching from either direction must stop for a school bus with flashing red lights.
- Divided highways: Drivers approaching from the opposite direction on a divided highway do not need to stop, unless directed by a police officer. Drivers traveling in the same direction must stop.
Thank you for helping keep our students safe!

Community Choice Power Supply Program
Public Hearing: Sept. 14 at 5:30 pm
Town Administration Building
The hearing will provide residents and other interested parties with an opportunity to learn about the program and comment on the proposed Aggregation Plan before it is submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities.
The purpose of this Plan is to represent consumer interests in competitive markets for electricity. It seeks to aggregate consumers in the Town to negotiate rates for power supply. It brings together the buying power of eligible consumers throughout Palmer. Furthermore, the Town seeks to better manage energy prices. Participation is voluntary for each eligible consumer.
The Town of Palmer developed the Aggregation Plan in compliance with Massachusetts law regarding public aggregation of electric consumers. It contains required information on the structure, operations, services, funding, and policies of the Town’s Plan. The Plan has been developed in consultation with the Town’s aggregation implementation consultant, Titan Energy, and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER).
