Robert Bruce Crane (1857 – October 30, 1937) was an American painter. He joined the Lyme Art Colony in the early 1900s. His most active period, though, came after 1920, when for more than a decade he did oil sketches of woods, meadows, and hills

Sorry Sold

Abel Warshawsky was born in 1883 in Sharon, Pennysylvania. Abel was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He studied at the Cleveland Art Institute, National Academy of Design and the Art Students League. Mr. Warshawsky left for Paris in 1905. He lived and painted in Europe for the next 25 years. The painting by Mr. Warshawsky is from the time he spent in Europe. The woman is dressed in typical clothing of the time feeding the chickens, with a thatched roof building behind her. The painting is an oil on canvas signed on the lower left and dated 1914. The painting is in excellent condition in a plain gold frame. Mr. Warshawsky moved back to the United States in 1940 and settled in Carmel, CA until his death in 1962.

William Havell was born in Reading England in 1782 and died in London in England in 1857. William Havell established himself as an oil painter in the manner of Richard Wilson and J.M.W. Turner. In 1816, Mr. Havell accepted a post as the official artist to the embassy of China, with William Pitt, Earl Amherst of Arracan. Mr. Havell and Mr. Pitt travelled from Beijing to Guangzhou sketching the Chinese countryside. He spent time in India, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) before returning to England in 1826.  The painting of the English countryside is an oil on canvas measuring 30 x 38 signed lower left. The painting has been relined and in good condition.

Leon Richet was born in Normandy in 1847 and died in Fountainbleau in 1907. Richet began exhibiting in the Paris Salons in 1869. He was a student of Narcisse Virgle Diaz de La Pena, Charles Victor Eugene Lefebvre and Louis Jean Boulanger. He was famous for his landscapes in the forest of Fountainbleau which depict tree lined path or a lake or pond. This painting is a bright barbizon landscape with a figure walking on a path. The painting is an oil on canvas signed lower left measuring 23 x 27 in an ornate frame.

Maude Goodman was born in Manchester, England in 1853 and died in Manchester, England in 1938. Ms. Goodman was considered a Pre-Raphaelite painter. She was famous for her women and children paintings in Victorian settings. This painting depicts figures in a coastal landscape. The painting measures 25 x 32 in a plain frame signed left of center.
