2/12/21

Dear Hastings Families,

We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe and getting ready to find some time to relax over the upcoming Mid-Winter Break.

Here is the latest update about Winter Interscholastic Athletics, the Fitness Center, & Intramurals:

  • Varsity Boys Swimming season is underway! We currently have 4 swimmers on the merged swim team of Hastings, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, & Edgemont. Please send your best wishes for their continued success!

  • Varsity Boys & Girls & Modified Indoor Track is underway! We currently have 65+ boys & girls participating.  Indoor Track is looking a lot different this year with no indoor venues due to Covid. Unfortunately, the constant snowfall is hindering track meets. However, the team has continued working hard and braving the cold getting ready for the chance to compete in the future.

  • Great News!  On 2/8/21, The Hastings-on-Hudson Board approved the participation in the following high risk sports: Girls JV & Varsity Basketball, Boys JV/Varsity Basketball, & Varsity Ice Hockey.  Schedules are being developed and will be out soon. It is a welcome sight to see our student-athletes and coaches back in action working hard playing the game they love! Unfortunately, due to COVID DOH regulations, student-athletes are not permitted to play in any outside high risk sports programs during the high school season.

  • Unfortunately, based upon consultation with the local DOH and our Medical Director, the risk factor for Wrestling is too significant to offer this season.

  • Unfortunately, DOH regulations prohibit spectators into the school and/or ice rink to watch the games this season. The Athletic Department will be livestreaming the games when possible and will share the link to the entire community the day of the event. We might not be able to cheer in person but please show your support by watching the games from the comfort of your own home!

  • Unfortunately, High Sports Modified High Risk Sports (Girls & Boys Basketball & Wrestling) have been cancelled for the Winter Athletic Season. We are in the process of designing a Covid safe Middle School Intramural Program that is slated to start after the Mid-Winter Break. Mr. Adipietro will be the supervisor and sending out the details. Please join the new Middle School Intramural Google Classroom: macv4he

Please contact one of the supervisors to reserve a spot and get more information:

  • Hudsonettes won’t allow Covid to stop them!  With a solid 24 girls on the roster, they have been practicing hard getting ready for the Fall Sports II Season in March!

  • Fall Sports Season II Sports of Varsity, JV, & Modified Volleyball & Varsity & Modified Football and Spring Season Sports of Varsity, JV, & Modified Boys Lacrosse are on the agenda for Board approval.  FamilyID will be opening up soon.  Stay tuned for details!

Please understand that, due to the global pandemic, athletics is in a state of constant change.  As more information becomes available, the Athletic Department will keep you updated.  We understand that athletics is a huge part of many people's lives and we are committed to providing your children, as family/fans & community, with the best possible experience.   In the meantime, we hope you all stay healthy and safe and have a great Mid-Winter Break!
