DDA Year in Review
Happy New Year, LVDDA businesses! 2020 brought new challenges to all of us and required reimaging and implementing new plans for events, programs, and support for all of us. , Despite these challenges, LVDDA has accomplished a lot during 2020 because of your businesses and support from outside resources.
COVID-19 Grants and Resources
The U.S. Small Business Administration and Treasury Department announced on January 8th the reopening of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). PPP has authorized up to $284 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses through March 31, 2021.

The Michigan Small Business Survival Grant Program will provide funding to eligible small businesses disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the Gatherings and Mask Order issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Service on December 7, 2020, through December 20, 2020, and the order taking effect on November 18, 2020, that it rescinded and replaced.

Main Street America and Brother International are working together to support small businesses and amplify the importance these enterprises play in communities across the country. The program will support brick-and-mortar small businesses in designated Main Street districts as they work to adapt to COVID-19 and prepare for the next phases of reopening across the country, while also helping to revitalize and strengthen older and historic commercial corridors. Grants of $5,000 to $10,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applications will open at 12 pm EST/11 am CST on Thursday, January 21 and continue to be accepted through Thursday, January 28 at 7:59 pm EST/6:59 pm CST.

Opens January 15, at 9:00 am

Service industry employees impacted by the current state health department "pause" are eligible to apply for grant funds through the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association Educational Foundation. Workers impacted by the current order may apply for one-time grants of up to $1,650. Applications will be accepted at 9 a.m. Jan. 15 to 5 p.m. Jan. 25, the release states. All applicants will receive an email no later than Feb. 26 confirming whether the grant was approved or denied. More information here.

Business License Renewal
As our Lathrup Village businesses know, they are required to obtain a Business License which is renewed annually. What you might not know is that our multi-tenant property owners must also obtain a Commercial Landlord License (also renewed annually). These licenses help us track which amazing businesses are in Lathrup Village, which helps us better understand our business mix, and in turn, helps us develop programming to best serve the district!
Renewal notices were sent out in December and are being processed now. If you own a multi-tenant property but didn’t receive a renewal notice click here for a Commercial Landlord License. The fee is $75 before occupancy or $100 after occupancy. If you need to renew a Business License, click here for the application! If you have any questions, please reach out to Susie Stec at [email protected]
