The Silvana Massolo Entrepreneurs Grant

Philanthropy is a core value for Massolo who recently launched the  â€œSilvana Massolo Entrepreneurs Grant”   at her Alma Mater, Florida International University. This grant is designed to aid alumni in investing in their own startups or small businesses, with preference given to people of color. Massolo is heavily involved with several organizations such as  Casita Maria , a safe community, that enriches and uplifts families towards success, through art and educational programs, as well as  Dress for Success Dallas , which recently honored her as a part of their “31 Days of Women in Power.”

Dermatology Partner’s Lexington Park office serves a diverse community of people. In the first week of August, they were joined by Dr. Renata Ruiz, a dermatologist who seeks to connect to her patients by speaking their native language. 


Born in Brazil, she learned Portuguese growing up, learned English to take classes in the U.S., and is now learning Spanish to speak to her patients in their own language.

Dr. Ruiz graduated with a bachelor’s from Boston University, completed her medical degree at the University of Massachusetts, and continued on to complete her internal medicine internship and dermatology training at Brown University.

How organizers are taking the Day of the Dead river parade to national TV

For at least one autumn weekend, the nation will come to know San Antonio as “Spiritlandia.” At least that’s the hope of organizers of the Day of the Dead San Antonio river parade and festival.


In an announcement to media and city dignitaries Wednesday morning at La Villita, Chef Johnny Hernandez unveiled the new branding for the festival he first introduced in 2019. After the coronavirus pandemic necessitated a virtual celebration in only its second year, the parade returned as an in-person event in 2021.

This year, the event will be broadcast in a combined television and online streaming format with national partners NBC LX and Peacock, which along with Telemundo channels, will reach an estimated 100 million U.S. viewers, according to organizers.

Salvador was the first to cultivate grapes for the Firestone family in 1974. His son, Armando Zepeda, planted the first vines in Buttonwood Vineyards in 1983. Ever since, Armando has been Grape Master. Through hard work and esfuerzo, the Flores and Zepeda family has mastered the craft of winemaking and become essential to Solvang wine country.
