Welcome Janie Kypta
HART's Executive Assistant
Janie has been actively dedicated to HART of Folsom for eight years. In 2023, she was elected to the HART Board and served as HART’s Secretary until recently accepting the position as executive assistant. HART of Folsom is delighted to have Janie fill the shoes of our first paid position. She works hand in hand with HART’s Board Chair, Board Members and our volunteer family to expand HART’s capacity in Folsom!
She began volunteering for HART when the Folsom Winter Shelter first opened in 2017 and enjoyed serving as an intake interviewer and manning the storage pod. After HART’s Transitional Housing Program opened its doors, she chaired the “Walk with HART” fundraisers and helped lead the planning committee for HART’s Holiday Festival. Currently, she's on the committee for HART’s upcoming Big Day of Giving Fiesta.
Why did you apply to be HART's Executive Assistant?
HART is crossing a threshold and expanding its services in the Folsom community. To manage growth effectively and efficiently, the organization needs administrative support. I loved volunteering for HART and felt that the Executive Assistant position would be a good fit for me. In my professional career, I supported executive directors, business owners, and worked in finance management, so this is a natural transition for me. Also, I’m passionate about working with volunteers and the bonding that naturally takes place.
How do you see the growth of HART's mission helping the Folsom community?
I envision HART providing more transitional housing throughout the Folsom community. The upcoming Oak Hills Church project may prove to be a model for other organizations and encourage them to join in our mission of caring for the unhoused in providing transitional housing going into the future. I would like to see the temporary shelter expand not only in the winter months but also through the summer when the temperature exceeds 100 degrees.
HART volunteers, donors, and its Board provide a service in the Folsom community that is unlike other local non-profits. Its organizational structure partners with churches, local businesses, and restaurants to provide year-round transitional housing and temporary shelter in the winter.
I marvel at how a volunteer-based organization for the past eight years developed and maintained two very successful programs. This says a lot about our community and the people who live here. We care for our own and it shows in the excellence and longevity of HART’s programs. I encourage everyone to volunteer with HART, start small, an hour or two per week. The HART community is full of caring and loving people who give to those less fortunate, and the reward and blessings are eminent.
Thank you, Janie, for your dedication and hard work! You bless us all!
