Greetings!

How much I love you and thank the Lord for your strong faith in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. We see this on display all over the church and everywhere as people interact and meet the needs of those around us. On Wednesday, Karyn and I spent some time over at The Bridge, and were so profoundly impacted by the preciousness of our staff and volunteers. I really want to encourage you to go there yourself and see what God is doing as this mission commission takes root and serves to touch so many lives for Christ. It is simply an amazing thing to see and be a part of – and we all are through our prayers, our giving, and our personal engagement. And, as I preached a series for the Buncombe County (Asheville) Tent Crusade in the evenings, we were literally blown away by the scores of churches and people who came and witnessed a massive movement of God upon them all. On one evening, I asked how many actually worship with us through TV and online - it seemed every hand went up in a packed out tent that seated about 1400. Your witness for Christ through your faithfulness in and through FBS is a high mark of God’s amazing grace on this church for generations.

On Friday evening over 100 of our weekday families and friends will gather out at Dave Edward’s farm to formally welcome Jessica as she leads out as our Weekday Preschool director. These are exciting days for our parents and especially for our little ones. Our Weekday Preschool is going to go to new and exciting heights of excellence as we seek to come alongside so many parents in the raising up of their sons and daughters. Jordan Cramer is heading up A Better Man, a new and exciting opportunity for men of all ages to grow in their relationship with God and others through one-on-one mentoring. Check out the details about the launch dinner on Wednesday, September 7. iMom: Intentional Moms will blend mentoring and discipleship together so that Moms will have the opportunity to grow spiritually, emotionally and relationally. This launch will begin on Tuesday, September 6. Moms get ready. This is very exciting. It’s all exciting and so needed in our world.

First Baptist is at it and on it!! So much to do for Christ.

This Sunday will be very significant in our study of CARRIED THROUGH. I will be sharing a most remarkable and heart capturing video story coming from the heart of Roy and Deneen Griffin. Then I will take us straight into God’s Word to see for ourselves how it was possible for this most precious couple to go through all they have gone through, and yet fall back on their faith and trust in our God and our Lord. Get ready for this time of worship.

I cannot wait to see you all with love in your hearts and your Bibles in hand.

Join us in Prayer
An hour every Tuesday from noon to one in our Sanctuary to come and pray or be prayed for. You are welcome to come when you like and leave when you like.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

We are in the middle of a Prayer FOCUS for the next 52 weeks. Each Monday you will be sent a verse and devotion video to help guide you in prayer for the week. You can find this on the website and all socials as well. Thank you for your partnership as we unite our church family in prayer!

August Prayer Focus
Pray for SEND Relief, which is a collaboration between the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board to open doors to the gospel through compassion ministry responding to natural disasters, caring for refugees and displaced families, and strengthening communities locally, nationally, and globally facing economic and physical crisis. Pray for efforts to help with the crisis of world hunger. Pray for the many efforts and initiatives of Vintage Pittsburgh’s SEND Relief Center as they minister to the needs of their community. Pray for them as they utilize their new prayer/counseling room at the SEND Center in Pittsburgh remodeled by an FBS missions team during their time in Pittsburgh last month.

As we are nearing the end of summer we just want to thank you for your continued faithfulness in giving to support the many ministries of First Baptist through your tithes and offerings. Your gifts are the fuel that allows us to reach more and more people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
With our online giving, it is easy to keep current on your tithes by setting up an auto recurring gift or making a one-time gift.
You can also bring your gift to the church on Sunday and give during the service or place it in one of the many giving boxes around the church.
Thank you for your commitment to maintain your faithful stewardship in every area of your life – time, talent, treasures and testimony.
