October Newsletter

Happy Fall Y'all!

It’s been such a wonderful start to our school year here at Laurel!

This month we have lots of fun events happening at Laurel! As a school, we want to make sure we have many modes of communication with our families.

Our newsletters are just one of the ways we communicate with our community and are always full of information!

We also communicate via Remini, our digital app, that families also use to check in students to school and check out at the end of the day. This is a great way to communicate with your child’s teacher through messages, but please don’t forget all absences should always be reported to the main office!

Parents are also welcome to follow us on social media via Instagram or Facebook. There is also a Facebook Parents Page to further communication with each other and our community that is separate from the school Facebook page. Often times, the school will use these formats, as well as Remini and emails, to send out information.

We will have our first monthly morning meeting tomorrow. Typically, on the first Tuesday of each month (some months differ), two classes or specialists present what they have been learning in the classroom! Families are welcome to attend for their child’s classroom presentation or any morning meeting. We will also have our fundraiser bake sale during morning meetings and in the afternoon as well (if there is anything left)! All families are welcome to contribute to the bake sale as all proceeds benefit our Annual Fund!

We are very excited to celebrate this month of October with all of you for our School Pictures, the Fourth & Fifth Grade Outdoor Classroom Trip, Movie Night, Laurel Spirit Week & Parade! It’s going to be an eventful month with all the details you need within this newsletter!

Outdoor Classroom - Nature on Wheels Program

What is Outdoor Classroom?

Outdoor Classroom is environmental education program that takes a holistic approach to learning, and not only fosters the educational growth of students, but also social and personal growth. Through this learning students develop a sense of community, a confidence in themselves, and an appreciation for others in the school community Outdoor Classroom is not simply just environmental education but a unique human experience.

Who participates?

For the Nature on Wheels program our Kindergarten – Grade 5 students and faculty participated all day with staff from Outdoor Classroom.
