This presentation offers a glimpse into how law firms are strategically navigating the risks associated with initiating generative AI projects. It discusses examples like Sarah Alt from Michael Best & Friedrich restricting access to ChatGPT while exploring secure sandboxes. HaystackID, an e-discovery provider, acknowledges the limitations of generative AI and has formulated a phased approach. Troutman Peppers introduced Athena, an in-house, secure version of ChatGPT, to familiarize their lawyers with the technology. Furthermore, Litera's Smart Summaries and CLM Evisort have integrated generative AI via OpenAI on Microsoft Azure. To address concerns about ethics, "ground truth" issues, intellectual property, and identifying optimal applications, many are also hedging their bets by diversifying LLM providers.
