Lawler receives Thomas S. Upchurch Workforce Education Award

Carrollton Upper Elementary School Principal Stacy Lawler received the Thomas S. Upcurch Workforce Education Award at the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Gala Feb. 9. In his remarks, Carrollton City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Albertus said Lawler builds genuine relationships with his students, staff and community. " As leaders, we could all benefit from his approach. I am not only honored to call him a colleague, but a friend," said Dr. Albertus.

CHS Golden Spiral magazine wins Merit status in REALM contest

More than 200 student magazines around the globe were nominated for distinctions from the National Council of Teachers of English for its 2022 Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines contest and Carrollton High School's Golden Spiral received recognition.

Class of 2022 CHS pathway seniors post 100% graduation rate

Students in Carrollton High School's Class of 2022 who choose to focus on career-technical pathways posted a graduation rate that not only exceeded the state average among their peers, but reached the pinnacle of perfection, validating the growing importance of CTAE programs not only statewide, but also at home.

"On the Table" event promotes community engagement

Carrollton Junior High School students participated in "On the Table" Feb. 9. The event is a community engagement initiative sponsored by the Community Foundation of West Georgia. Community members of all ages, perspectives, and backgrounds engage in conversations to inspire fresh ways to work together to make communities thrive.

Four Carrollton High School students competed in the Georgia Forensic Coaches Association Second Year Debate State Championship Feb. 4 and brought home the first-place trophy. CHS second-year debate team members win state championship

Four Carrollton High School students competed in the Georgia Forensic Coaches Association Second Year Debate State Championship Feb. 4 and brought home the first-place trophy. CHS Debate Coach Richard Bracknell said GFCA features a state championship for second-year debaters, typically sophomores and some juniors, depending on when they started to debate.

STEM rocks at CUES

Carrollton High School graduate and musician, Brian Crews, visited with Carrollton Upper Elementary School STEM students to provide a preview for their upcoming STEM in Music unit. Brian dissected the engineering and technology behind acoustic and electric guitars, and put on short concerts throughout the day for students.

Job and Transition Fair helps prepare students for life after graduation


Carrollton City Schools and Carroll County Schools teamed up to host a Transition and Job Fair for students Feb. 8 at the Carroll County Performing Arts Center. The purpose of the Transition and Job Fair is to provide information on available resources to assist our students in making informed decisions about life after high school.  At the event, junior and senior students and their parents visited vendors and information tables representing post-secondary educational and employment options, job coaching, transportation, summer camp opportunities, affordable housing, and more.
