Head of School’s Message

Dear LHS Staff,

As we end one year and begin another, let's reflect and be grateful for the gift of membership in a community that is united, joyful, and committed to student success. As you'll see below, it certainly requires the best of all of us to ensure we are providing an excellent education for our students and a welcoming, connected experience for our families. I want to encourage each of you to take a step back and re-energize over break as we prepare for our School Quality Review on February 4th and 5th.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

It Takes a Village

A huge thank you to the many, many staff at Lawrence High School who play essential roles in keeping our school running and meeting students' needs. From daycare providers who care for our students' children, to school safety staff and police officers who ensure our halls are secure, to facilities and maintenance staff who keep our spaces clean and functional—your work makes a difference every day. Office staff and clerks keep operations running smoothly, nurses and health clinic staff provide critical care and support for student well-being, and food services staff ensure our students are well-fed and ready to learn. Administrators, counselors, and school climate staff provide guidance and support for students to navigate both academics and personal challenges and opportunities. Your contributions are deeply valued and integral to the success of our school community- Thank you for all you do!

Best Practices

Biomedical Pathways: Student Lab Detectives

Students in Ms. Sarah Hansen's Principles of Biomedical Science Pathways class utilized lab safety techniques while performing a lab involving chemicals and working over an open flame. This high-engagement lab involved gram staining a bacteria sample, examining it under a microscope, identifying the bacteria species, and drawing a conclusion about how to treat a hospital outbreak. Ms. Hansen's diligent planning ensured that students were clear about both procedures and outcomes, able to guide their own learning and work together to produce the best results.

Restorative Practices

Ms. Kim Ridley's PA class joined Mr. Quin Gonell, Manager of Restorative Justice, in the Wellness Dome. Students listened to each other and came away with valuable insights to their behavior and how it affects others.
