Lyons R, Hedden L, Harris S, Choi YH, Ryan BL, Reichert S, Meredith L, Mathews M. (2026). Time to finding a regular primary care provider for unattached patients at the Primary Care Diabetes Support Program in London, Ontario, Canada. Canadian Journal of Diabetes.

What happens when people living with diabetes do not have a regular primary care provider? Researchers examined how long it took patients referred through London’s Primary Care Diabetes Support Program to become connected with ongoing primary care. The study highlights a real-world gap in care that can make chronic disease management harder. The findings may help clinicians, program leaders and health-system planners strengthen referral pathways and improve continuity of diabetes care. #EndocrinologyMetabolismChronicDiseases

Researchers interviewed service users to better understand what helps or gets in the way when people seek meals. Participants valued services that preserved dignity, offered choice, were easy to access. The findings can help community organizations and care partners better reflect the needs and experiences of the people that they serve. #MentalHealth

The Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Regaining the ability to walk is often a major goal after stroke. This meta-analysis looked at how gait speed changes across lower-limb stroke rehabilitation trials. The researchers included how timing after stroke and type of intervention may matter. By bringing together evidence from many studies, the work can help rehabilitation researchers and care teams better understand which approaches may support mobility, independence and recovery.

This article describes a collaboration between hospital and community agencies designed to prevent youth from being discharged to homelessness. The work highlights how research and partnership can help close gaps between health care and social support, with the goal of improving transitions, safety and long-term well-being.

What if the eyes could offer a window into how the brain responds to stimulation? This study explored whether changes in pupil size after transcranial magnetic stimulation, a non-invasive technique used to activate specific areas of the brain, can help measure cortical excitability, or how responsive the brain is. By developing better ways to understand brain activity, this work may support future research in areas such as pain, movement and rehabilitation.

After a serious elbow injury, choosing the right implant size can affect how well the joint moves and functions for the patient. This review looked at the anatomical principles and clinical techniques used to guide radial head prosthesis sizing in elbow trauma. The authors identified factors that can affect implant fit, joint movement and stability. The article brings together considerations that may help surgeons and trainees make more informed decisions when planning reconstruction and supporting recovery.  #SurgicalSpecialties

How can brain imaging help researchers better understand post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? This study looked at fatty acid amide hydrolase, an enzyme connected to the body’s endocannabinoid system. Researchers found lower activity in the amygdala, a brain region involved in fear and emotional processing, among people with PTSD. The findings may support future work to better understand PTSD biology and develop more targeted approaches to diagnosis and treatment. #MentalHealth
