What are the placebo rates in randomized controlled trials in ulcerative colitis and which patient-and trial-level factors influence placebo rate when individual patient data are analyzed? This study analyzed individual patient data from multiple randomized trials to pinpoint factors driving placebo rates such as prior biologic exposure and trial design. Findings help researchers design smarter studies and interpret outcomes more accurately. Clinicians and trial designers will find this article essential for improving study design and accurately assessing treatment effects in ulcerative colitis research.

People with spinal cord injury face high risks of heart and metabolic disease, but are they getting the right care? This review examined how cardiometabolic risks are screened and managed after spinal cord injury. Researchers found gaps and wide variations in practice. The findings highlight opportunities to improve prevention and long-term outcomes. Rehabilitation clinicians, primary care providers and those with spinal cord injuries will find this article valuable for understanding gaps in cardiometabolic risk screening and care for people living with spinal cord injury.

How do people who use methamphetamine experience hospital care during acute illness? This qualitative study explored patient experiences to better understand gaps in care. Through in-depth interviews, researchers identified stigma, communication barriers and missed opportunities for support. The findings highlight ways hospitals can improve safety and trust. Clinicians, leaders and health system planners will find this research provides first-hand insights into how people use methamphetamine experience hospital care, evidence of systemic barriers and actionable areas for change.
