As this is our first Lawton Ledger issue since spring break, welcome back from what I hope was a restful and rejuvenating week away! We were so thrilled to have our students and families back on campus, and the energy over these past two weeks has been fantastic!
Field Day / Parent Support
A huge special event right before break was our fantastic Field Day. The students had an absolute blast participating in all the activities, and the smiles and laughter were contagious! It was wonderful to see such great teamwork and school spirit on display. You’ll find a special section of this Lawton Ledger with highlights from the fun that was had! A very special thank you to all the parents who were able to come out and volunteer their time to make the day such a success. Your support is invaluable, and we truly appreciate you!
Special Thank you to the OCSO
We also want to thank the Orange County Sheriff's Office for donating their Game Truck for a fun incentive for our 3rd and 4th graders last week. Some of our students got to spend time playing video games with their classmates as a reward for attendance and behavior during the 3rd nine weeks.
Upcoming Field Trips
Looking ahead, we have some exciting learning opportunities on the horizon for our students. Please note that field trips are planned for 1st, 4th, and 5th grade in the coming weeks. Fourth grade will be heading to St. Augustine on April 11th, 1st grade will have their rescheduled field trip to the History Center on April 15th and 5th grade heads to Kennedy Space Center on April 18th. Teachers have sent home detailed information regarding these trips. Please keep an eye out for any additional important updates.
End-of-Year Awards
We are approaching the end of the school year with only seven weeks left, and we know many of you are looking forward to information regarding our end-of-year awards. We have included important information within this issue below for each grade level ceremony. RSVP for a Grade Level Award Ceremony - https://tinyurl.com/LCEAwardCeremony2025
Testing & Attendance
As we move further into the spring semester, it's important to highlight the upcoming state testing that will be taking place in the coming weeks. The FAST and STAR assessments are a valuable opportunity for us to gauge student progress and ensure they are on the right track. To help our students perform their best, consistent attendance is crucial. Being in class every day allows students to stay engaged with the curriculum, ask questions, and receive the support they need.
Mystery Boxes
On a lighter note, we have a fun surprise in store for each class, courtesy of our wonderful Principal, Ms. Willis! Mystery boxes filled with exciting goodies have been delivered to each classroom as a special way to celebrate our collective efforts and hard work this year. Classes will have the opportunity to open the mystery boxes after their class has completed all state assessments. We appreciate Ms. Willis for her thoughtful gesture and believe this will add a bit of extra excitement to our days before the school year ends.
We are looking forward to a strong finish for these last nine weeks, filled with learning, growth, and fun. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.
Sincerely,
Matthew Astone
