We Celebrated our Level Up September Students of the Month!

These students serve as role models and leaders in the classroom. We recognized our Level Up students with a sweet treat, some Level Up goodies, and adding their handprint to our monthly ceiling tiles that hang in the cafeteria.

Lawton Chiles Elementary School 2024-2025 Theme:

Level Up 2.0 - It Only Gets Better!

Dear Mark,

I hope everyone remained safe during Hurricane Milton. That was a stressful time for all, and an alter in our everyday routines! We are grateful our campus sustained minimal damage with only some debris scattered across the grounds. If you find yourself in need of assistance following the storm, please do not hesitate to reach out. We will support with whatever resources we have, and can work to put you in connection with others that can be of assistance. We will have a hurricane make up day on Friday, October 25th. This date was previously scheduled as a holiday.

It is hard to believe that we have wrapped up the end of the 2024-2025 first quarter. The first quarter officially ended on Friday, October 18th.

Our kindergarten students went to see the Junie B. Jones Play at the Orlando Family Stage. Story in this issue!

We’re excited to remind you about our upcoming parent-teacher conferences! Parent-Teacher conference week is October 21st through October 25th. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to connect and collaborate in support of your child's education.

Parent-teacher conferences allow you to:

1. Stay Informed: Learn about your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth.

2. Build Relationships: Foster a positive partnership with your child’s teacher, which can enhance their learning experience.

3. Share Insights: Provide valuable information about your child that can help teachers support their unique needs.

4. Discuss Goals: As a reminder, our school has focused on student goal setting this year. This is an opportunity to review those goals and allow our students to highlight the progress they have made.

Your involvement is crucial in helping your child succeed. We encourage you to take this opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about their learning journey. Please reach out to your child's teacher as soon as possible to schedule a conference.

Thank you for being such an essential part of our school community!

Sincerely,

Erin Willis

Teachers of the Month

Our school staff has recently started celebrating Teachers of the Month. The staff have an opportunity to highlight members of our Hecoon Family and all that they do to make LCE a wonderful place to be.

Meet Our September 2024 Teachers of the Month!

Ms. Vanfossen is such a talented and hardworking teacher!

Ms. Vanfossen uses her amazing ideas, unique style and personality to shape many of her lessons. She uses her creativity to plan thoughtful lessons for all students. Ms. Vanfossen always considers what is best for students first and incorporates the different ways that she relates to students within her lessons daily. She has been a steady loving example to all students; but especially to many students that struggled with behavior. Ms. Vanfossen is also patient and kind when working with her team and her students. She is student focused; always thinking of how to best help her students. She is a collaborator; always willing to learn from and support her teammates. Ms. Vanfossen is also a team player; always willing to help out her team in any way she can. She is also sweet and supportive; not only as a teammate, but as a friend as well.

Ms. Cheatwood is such a bright light!

Ms. Cheatwood welcomes all with a smile, and brings a smile whenever she’s around; it is truly contagious. She is admired by staff for her steady energy, positive enthusiasm, and extra effort to keep the momentum going. She is organized and has amazing classroom structures. Ms. Cheatwood is inclusive of everyone. She is kind, thoughtful, generous and patient with all students and staff. She is a great teammate and friend; willing to listen, share ideas and suggestions, and learn from and support her teammates when needed. Ms. Cheatwood is hard working, dedicated and committed; she works tirelessly to make quality lessons that improve learning. She sets a standard for her students by modeling how to be respectful and show appreciation. We need more people like Ms. Cheatwood in the educational family!

We recently began recognizing outstanding readers on campus weekly!

With the help of our media specialist we track the number of words each class reads per week, and we celebrate the students with the most words read for the week, It is another wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the positive things happening at LCE!

Our kindergarten students had their first ever field trip—and it was a hit!

They went to see the Junie B. Jones Play at the Orlando Family Stage. They are looking forward to another field trip later in the year.

We want to continue to celebrate our students tracking their goals.

Our students have really locked in to their learning and are ready to continue to Level Up! We are so proud of them. 🙂

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
