You can track Santa's journey delivering presents all across the world on NORAD's website this Christmas Eve. (North American Aerospace Defense Command)
NORAD, which is responsible for protecting the skies over the United States and Canada, activates its Santa tracking system on Christmas Eve. NORAD has an app and website, www.noradsanta.org, that will track Santa on Christmas Eve from 4 a.m. to midnight, mountain standard time. People can call 1-877-HI-NORAD to ask live operators about Santa’s location from 6 a.m. to midnight, mountain time.
This is the 69th year that NORAD has tracked Santa’s yuletide journey around the world. It started by accident, according to NORAD’s website, in 1955 when a local newspaper advertisement informed children they could call Santa directly – only the contact number was misprinted.

Annual Winter Extravaganza Concert
This year, in addition to Chorus and Music Makers, we were excited to celebrate the hard work of our students in our Orchestra Strings class. This new addition is available to our 4th and 5th grade students, and we are so proud of their dedication!
| |
Recognizing Academic Achievement
Our Kindergarten and First grade students celebrated their growth on the second FAST progress monitoring assessment with a visit from the Kona Ice truck. The students worked hard and improved 10 points from their first FAST assessment to the second FAST assessment. We are so proud of their hard work!
* For those of our LCE families who may be unaware, FAST stands for Florida Assessment of Student Thinking and the PM2 was the second of three Progress Monitoring Assessments administered during the year. For more information on the FAST assessments, please click here.
| |
Our students in second through fifth grade celebrated their proficiency and growth on the second FAST progress monitoring assessment with a visit from the video game truck. Our students worked hard and scored a level 3 or higher, or went up 10 points from the first FAST assessment to the second FAST assessment, in both reading and math. We are so proud of their hard work, and they had a lot of fun in the truck!
Classroom Spotlight
Ms. Higginbotham’s class enjoyed time together by eating lunch in the classroom.
| |
Our EBD classroom enjoyed comparing and contrasting a book verse a movie, and also enjoyed team building activities to build a Christmas tree.
Our 4th grade team won the gingerbread house decorating contest!
All grade level teams decorated a gingerbread house and the students got to vote at lunch. All the kids really enjoyed the Grinch theme!
| |
The Grinch On Holiday Spirit
"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"
~ Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss), How the Grinch Stole Christmas
| |
'Tis the Season!
Ms. Silva’s Kindergarten students enjoyed decorating Christmas trees with parents and school family.
| |
We had many fun dress up days in December as well!
Students Stayed Focused on their Goals
We had a lot of fun in December, but we continued to focus on tracking our learning gains and setting challenging goals! Pictured just below, Ms. Garrett’s class worked hard on multiplication facts. More to come on goal setting in January!
