Thank you for another interesting and engaging All Pro Dad chapter meeting!

Lawton Chiles Elementary School 2024-2025 Theme:

Level Up 2.0 - It Only Gets Better!

As we progress through the school year, we want to emphasize the critical role that regular attendance plays in your child's education, especially as we approach the spring months leading up to end-of-year assessments.

Research indicates that missing just 10 days of school can significantly affect a student's academic performance. In elementary grades, each day missed can equate to at least 2.5 days of lost math and language and literacy learning.

The Importance of Spring Attendance

The spring semester is a pivotal time for reinforcing and applying the skills and knowledge students have acquired throughout the year. Consistent attendance during this period ensures that students are well-prepared for final assessments and can fully demonstrate their learning progress. Studies have shown that absences in the weeks leading up to standardized tests are associated with lower performance, highlighting the necessity of being present during this crucial time.

How You Can Support Your Child

Set a Routine: Establish consistent bedtime and morning routines to help your child get to school on time.

Communicate the Importance: Discuss with your child how attending school daily benefits their learning and friendships.

Schedule Wisely: Plan appointments and family trips outside of school hours and during scheduled breaks.

Stay Informed: Keep track of school events and assessment dates to ensure your child doesn't miss important instructional time. (Please see March calendar/special events below.)

We understand that occasional absences are unavoidable. However, minimizing time away from school helps your child stay engaged, learn effectively, and achieve their full potential.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Erin Willis

We would love to have nothing but 100% parent involvement at LCE! If you have not done so, please go to OCPS site and sign up to become an ADDitions School Volunteer. Once you do that, you will need to watch a safety video on your dashboard before we can place you to our school. Below is the link:
