A HUGE THANKS to volunteers Sarah Martin, Ren Martin, Laurie Brown, Holly Brigham, and others who have worked over FIFTEEN hours cleaning up and landscaping the grounds of CSMSG. (Not only have they attended to the Ellenwood and Wydown entrances, but the Davis Courtyard and Columbarium as well). Stewardship is all-inclusive. It touches every area of life, including our time, talent, as well as our treasure! Episcopal Christians, our Confirmation preparation class, is offered in the Fall and Spring.
Interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church and the way of life it offers? Whether you’re considering joining the Church or need a refresher course, come join us as we learn more about the faith, worship, practices, and governance of the Episcopal Church as well as the traditions, programs, and fun that The Church of St. Michael & St. George offers.
Adults seeking Confirmation (or Reception, if Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox) into the Anglican Communion will be confirmed in the Spring.

Confirmation is open for all those who are:

  1. Previously baptized but not confirmed in any tradition.
  2. If you have not been baptized, we will also baptize and confirm you.
  3. Previously confirmed in another tradition that is not Anglican, Roman Catholic, or Eastern Orthodox (if you have been confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church of the Eastern Orthodox Church, you only have to be Received).

Class will meet on November 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2019
Classes will meet Sundays from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM in the Sverdrup Room with the Rev. Peter Speropulous.

The topics for this four-week course are:

  • Basic Christianity
  • Our Anglican Heritage
  • Word and Sacrament
  • CSMSG What’s next? Finding Your +1

Did you know that the Choristers provides children ages eight years and older with the opportunity to play an important role in keeping alive music in the Anglican tradition? Are you passionate about welcoming newcomers to The Church of St. Michael & St. George? Whether it is greeting them at our front doors and helping them navigate the building or introducing them to other parishioners and the fabulous ministries and groups we have available, our Greeters are personable, friendly, and are sensitive to the needs of others. MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: We are studying the Way of Love series, which includes podcasts from Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. The Way of Love is a way of life. More than a program, it is a return to the ancient pathways and Rules of Life that followers of Jesus have observed for centuries. Please join us for this nine-week series on Mondays from 9-9:45 AM in the Armstrong Room!

ST. MICHAEL’S DAY: Bagpipes, Music, and Fried Chicken! What more could a parishioner ask for? Plan now to stay for a picnic following the 9:15 AM service on Sunday, September 29. 

Follow the bagpipers out to the lawn after the 9:15 AM service. A picnic lunch and refreshments will be waiting for you! Bring a friend or two!
**There will be no 11:15 AM service on St. Michael’s Day.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS! Bring your pet to the playground at 6 PM to be blessed as we celebrate the witness of St. Francis and the joy and companionship our pets bring to our lives. All are welcome, with or without a pet, but please make sure all creatures large or small are adequately contained or restrained.

HOW MUCH MONEY IS NEEDED TO RUN CSMSG? Please join Senior Warden Betsy Douglass, Treasurer Mike Zaccarello, and other members of the Finance Committee on October 13, following the 9:15 AM service, for the “Where the Money Goes” presentation. It will take the place of the Rector’s Forum in the Taylor Room. Please take the opportunity to come and listen to the presentation, as it offers a guide to understanding the finances of our Church.

Save-the-date: COOKOUT AT SHAW PARK - Calling all parents with children 0-5 years old and elementary age! You are invited to a cookout at the South Shelter of Shaw Park on Sunday, October 13 from 11:30 AM-1 PM. Register online by Monday, October 7.

HUNGER MINISTRY CASSEROLE MAKING EVENT: October 15 from 5-7 PM in the CSMSG kitchen. All casseroles will be donated to Gateway 180. Ingredients will be provided. JOIN "HOME PLATE" Host Dinner for Wash U Students Away From Home - Starting this Fall
Washington University is looking for warm-hearted families to host 2-3 students for casual dinner and conversation. Help them feel at home in St. Lo uis, and your fami ly can enjoy the company of Wash U's incredibly smart and talented kids. We only require that you have 2-3 get-togethers over the course of the academic year. We also try to match students to family interests. Many students stay with their families throughout their Wash U years!
E-mail Risa Zwerling at to sign up! We will ask you to host your first dinner this late September or early October. There will be a reception at the Chancellor's residence for all program participants in the Spring. 
SUNDAY SCHOOL from 10:20-11 AM; 6th and 7th grade pre-Confirmation class will meet in the Gym, 8th grade Confirmands will meet upstairs in Canterbury Hall, and high schoolers will meet weekly in the Armstrong Room.

YOUTH GROUP from 6:30-8 PM each Sunday night. We begin our evenings with pizza in the Gym, then move to the Armstrong Room for games, Bible Study, and Compline. Please email with any questions. 
The Church of St. Michael & St. George (we welcome volunteers from all faiths!) has been providing a hot breakfast on Sunday morning to the families at the Shelter for over 25 years. Please consider devoting time to help! We welcome all volunteers - if you are willing, we can use you! Families can volunteer together, and youth - you can earn service hours.
