The Message this Week
Preaching Text: Luke 6:1-16
Doing good and doing harm on the sabbath. Jesus challenges the religious leaders with a question about what can and should be done on the sabbath. Rubbing the chaff off the wheat to eat the kernels? Telling a man with a withered hand to stretch out his hand? This infuriates the leaders. Jesus' response is to create apostles, prepare them, and send them out to multiply the mission of healing.
Lord God, You call us to join the work of doing good which is defined by Jesus' work as feeding and healing and making whole. You have given us all that we need to accomplish this. In Jesus' name, Amen.
