The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Exodus 19:3-7; 20:1-17

 Just saying. We come to a part of the Bible often called the Ten Commandments. You may be surprised to learn that the word commandment and the number 10 don't appear in the assigned reading. The word in Hebrew is actually 'Sayings'.  There are a LOT more commandments listed in Scripture. Yet these simple sayings have risen above those others. How do the 10 commandments provide a guide for your life?

Gracious God, thank You for the ways Your love guides our lives. Help us to follow faithfully.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

• Call us into the same love and compassion for our neighbors as you have for us.
• Help us to care for your creation not out of fear of punishment but out of deep love for this beautiful earth and all that live on it.
• Help all peoples, nations, and leaders to love you and neighbor above all else, regardless of the specific way in which they understand you. Make us all partners in bringing peace to this war-torn world.
• Help us to work for the health and well-being of all people, and guide us in serving those who are dealing with physical, emotional, or spiritual challenges.
• Relieve us of envy, greed, fear, and all that drives us to serve the gods of wealth and materialism.
• We remember with gratitude all those who modeled for us a life based on obedience to your good commandments. Help us to live as they lived.

God who created all that is, we place all for whom we pray, both aloud and in the silence of our hearts, into your loving arms. Amen.
