James Begin
Truck Driver
[ James Begin on a recent Spring Day, in Coventry]
Hometown:
Born and raised in Brownington, VT

Family:
Son, Lance

Pets:
Angora female cat named Fuzzy. Fuzzy was a rescued barn cat.

Favorite Food:
Lasagna and homemade dehydrated beef jerky.

Hobbies:
I love to tinker on most anything, I used to do it for a living. Now it's just a hobby. I love to go fishing with Lance.

Pet Peeve:
People not having any respect for owner's equipment.

Hates:
People that are not team players.

What was your first job?
Farming. I started as a farm hand.
Guilty Pleasures:
Collecting antique iron, like an old 1969 Massey Ferguson tractor, and a Bombardier Forwarder used to pull logging trailers. In the winter, I use the forwarder to commute from my off-grid home to the main road.

Best advice you ever received?
From my dad, he always used to say "protect your family."

Three things everyone should know about you:
Anyone needing help can always come to me.

Always willing to listen.

I sure do appreciate a good joke.

Best thing about your job?
Having the opportunity to work with a good crew.

Who do you most look up to?
My first boss, Elliot Hinton. He was like a father to me. He taught me that you can do everything in the world, but without family, you have nothing.

Project Highlight: Clarendon Quarry
We are proud of our team at the Clarendon Quarry, and all of our team members company-wide who helped to get the quarry ready for the 2020 season.

After a hard-fought offseason, our new crushing spread and site development efforts are beginning to pay off. The new plant is putting up numbers we haven't seen before, and it's hitting state specs out of the gate. Hard work pays off. We should all be proud. Now let’s sell some rock!
