Understanding Medicare Add on Code G2211: A Comprehensive Guide

Being a primary care physician is hard. Unlike some of our specialist colleagues, we can’t focus on a single organ system each visit. However, until recently, insurance reimbursement did not acknowledge the increased effort involved in providing comprehensive care. Enter G2211, a game-changer in Medicare billing that compensates for the increased time and complexity inherent in primary care. The G2211 add-on CPT code was initially developed in 2020 and slated for implementation in 2021. However, due to budgetary considerations, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 postponed its activation until January 1st, 2024. Click here to read more.

Restrictive Covenants - FAFP's Legislative Priority Passes Senate Health Policy!

While the legislative session was still fairly quiet last week (Capitol Update Week 3), the FAFP's number one legislative priority Senate Bill 458 passed the Senate Health Policy Committee yesterday unanimously! The FAFP testified as to how restrictive covenants/non-compete employment clauses negatively impact family physicians, and why it is important that they be made invalid (fast forward to 32 minutes in the video playback). While passage of SB 458 and its companion HB11 is unlikely this legislative session, this positive momentum was gained toward passage in the future. Remember, FAFP Capitol Updates are posted weekly on the FAFP Advocacy page, and provide the most current information on the FAFP's involvement in Tallahassee.

January Member Spotlight - Dr. Krista Brinkerhoff

"Upon graduating residency in 2020, I started with Florida Health Care Plans (FHCP), a health care insurance company in east central Florida with an integrated care model. I transitioned from a resident clinic whose patients had a rotating door of physicians, and I inherited a panel that had been with the same physician for 20-30 years. Initially, I was confused about why my patients wanted their visit to center on questions about me and my motivations to become a physician. Quickly, I realized they were analyzing how my values and beliefs influenced the care they would receive."
