Thank you to everyone who completed our membership survey this fall. Your input was so helpful, both immediately and for long-term planning. Here a just a few findings:
-
New and longtime members aren’t aware of all the benefits that come with your membership, so we immediately opened up virtual orientations with multiple times each week that any member or prospect can attend.
-
You want to be better connected with BOLD grads for your own board openings. Be sure to follow the BOLD program on LinkedIn to learn about individual program participants!
- You told us that your top 5 challenges are funding (always!), marketing/public awareness, compensation and benefits, hiring and retention, and board role and governance. We’ll use these priorities to add and strengthen our 2024 offerings in these areas.
- Members hold leadership development and networking opportunities to be the most important programs. We’ll be working to build in more networking this coming year, both in current programs and standalone events.
- In terms of potential new programs, current members are most interested in collaboration & partnerships, developing young leaders, diversity, equity & inclusion, and nonprofit workforce development. Stay tuned!

We have so much to report! Congratulations to BOLD 16, who graduated last week! This makes 197 participants in BOLD in 2023, including four cohorts and custom programs for P&G and KMK Law!
By popular demand, we created Mission Accomplished: BOLD Leadership for Nonprofit Board Chairs. This half-day master class was created exclusively for nonprofit board chairs and vice-chairs (current or incoming). Covering everything from working with the CEO to building an engaged board, the focus is practical solutions to persistent problems facing board leaders. The program will take place on January 31, 2024 and includes lunch, handbook, and online resource guide. The class is limited to 30 people, so sign up soon! More details and registration here.
We had a great time collaborating with Cincinnati Cares on the Board Bootcamp for BIPOC Leaders last month. BOLD Program Director Jay Shatz moderated a panel of BIPOC board leaders who shared their experience and advice.
