Dear Leadership Council SMC Community,
Happy Spring! Our Emerging Leaders and Leadership CORPS classes are hitting their stride with just a little over two months until graduation. Their focus this month on Healthy Communities and the resources available in San Mateo County reminds us to prioritize good health and to do what we can to help ensure access to care for everyone in our community.
Applications have started to come in for the Class of 2025 for our Emerging Leaders and Leadership CORPS Programs! We are hosting the first of three virtual Information Sessions on Tuesday, March 26, 12 noon - 1:00 p.m with two additional Information Sessions in April. We are also accepting nominations using this Nomination Form, Thank you for helping us spread the word that now is the time to apply. The application deadline is Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
We are meeting our goal to bring leadership professional development to our community at low or no cost. In February we hosted “Leadership Lab: Talents to Strengths,” an innovative, two-part workshop where participants explored their unique leadership strengths in the context of their leadership role. Earlier this month we hosted “Conversation Strategies for Challenging Times,” a virtual lunchtime program that helped participants build skills to navigate challenging conversations. Both of these Leadership Council Learning events were open to anyone who lived and/or worked in San Mateo County, and offered our community access to affordable and impactful training led by expert coaches.
On April 26 and 27, we will host “When Everyone Leads,” a leadership development workshop designed for elected leaders. We are excited to bring this innovative program to our County. Invitations have been sent and the registration deadline is April 5, 2024. More information is below.
We are thankful to our Alumni Advisory Council for their work planning opportunities for our program graduates to connect and have impact. Last month the Council’s Fundraising Committee launched the Future Leaders Fund that will help ensure the accessibility of our programs. We are grateful for the Council's initiative and generosity.
Leading together,
Kaarin Hardy and Margi Power
