Next Generation Fund: Submit a Proposal for 2027

Application Now Open for Novel Project Ideas

Some of SWOG’s key programs didn’t begin with federal funding – they began with a single idea submitted to The Hope Foundation.

Every year, we open our application inviting SWOG members and their collaborators to submit new requests that tackle unmet needs across our trials network. While other Hope programs fund direct research, the Next Generation Fund is designed for concepts with a broader scope: the infrastructure improvements, workforce initiatives, education programs, and network-wide efforts that make better cancer research possible.

This is also the application to request renewal of funding previously granted through this mechanism.

SWOG's Recent Group Meeting Announced New Veterans Initiative Plus a Vision for the Network's Future

SWOG's spring meeting in San Francisco offered members an energizing look at the network's momentum and direction. A centerpiece of the gathering was Friday's plenary session, which featured an open dialogue between SWOG members and leadership focused on ideas and opportunities ahead.

Among other highlights was the launch of the Dr. Charles D. Blanke Veterans Access to Clinical Trials Initiative – a joint effort by SWOG and The Hope Foundation designed to honor and carry forward the legacy of SWOG's group chair emeritus by expanding NCI-supported clinical trial access at VA medical centers through three components: continuation of the VA Storefront Award program, new VA travel grants, and an annual VA Think Tank.

The Hope Foundation funds special events and travel for SWOG meetings. This spring, Hope supported meeting attendance for 87 individual travelers.

"I wanted to sincerely thank The Hope Foundation for funding my travel for the spring group meeting. It was an amazing experience and [...] provided so many valuable insights. It was great to be able to connect with other professionals in the field in person. I'm excited to bring what I learned back to my site."
