Redwood City, CA – Chamber San Mateo County, representing the cities of Redwood City, San Carlos, Belmont, and Menlo Park, proudly celebrated the graduation of its 38th Leadership program class on June 12, 2026. This year's graduation marks another successful cohort of leaders navigating their leadership journeys and becoming more equipped with the tools, knowledge and networks to drive meaningful change across our region.
Spanning from September through June, the intensive program immerses participants in ten diverse, dynamic, day-long sessions. Cohort members collaborate directly with experts, decision-makers, practitioners and funders across the business, government, non-profit, and education sectors to tackle the most timely and vital issues facing San Mateo County.
"Adding 53 new graduates to our roster of participants is a testament to the enduring impact of this Leadership program on our region," said Amy Buckmaster, president and CEO of Chamber San Mateo County. "Our Leadership program is designed to welcome leaders at all levels, helping them evolve their skills to the next tier of leadership and community service. Seeing this 38th class graduate inspires immense confidence in the future of our county."
The program's legacy is reflected in its alumni network. Many of the 1,500+ past participants have transitioned into pivotal roles within the community, serving as elected officials, members of community boards and commissions, and professionally as city managers, agency directors, department heads, chief executive officers, school district superintendents, college presidents and chancellors, non-profit executive directors and filling critical leadership roles at all points in between.
Among this year’s distinguished graduates is Cathy Jordan, vice mayor of Belmont, who reflected on the profound impact of the ten-month journey.
"This program provides an unparalleled deep dive into the complex ecosystems that make our communities thrive," said Jordan. "The insights gained and the connections forged over the last ten months have given all of us a clearer roadmap for how we can effectively shape the future of our organizations and our region. It has been an invaluable experience."
Chamber San Mateo County congratulates the Class of 2026 and looks forward to welcoming the next generation of changemakers this fall.
