J.C. Blair Health System Joins Penn Highlands Healthcare

Huntingdon, PA (6/4/2019) - The Huntingdon-based J.C. Blair Health System has officially joined Penn Highlands Healthcare, effective June 1, following recent regulatory reviews and approval.

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, a 71-bed, non-profit community hospital, is now know as Penn Highlands Huntingdon, making it the fifth hospital in the Penn Highlands Healthcare system.

"This affiliation represents an exciting new chapter in our growth," said Steven M. Fontaine, Chief Executive Officer of Penn Highlands Healthcare. "Just like our other hospitals, J.C. Blair is deeply rooted in its community and is known for providing high-quality care to patients close to home. Now, through our partnership, we will not only continue to provide the services residents of Huntingdon County and surrounding communities have come to depend on, but we also will bring access to the advanced care and treatments available through Penn Highlands Healthcare."

Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch Recruiting Volunteers to Work with Grieving Children and Families

June 5, 2019 - One in seven children in America will lose a parent or sibling by the age of 20. Behind this staggering statistic are real children - grieving children who often say that they feel alone. At the Home Nursing Agency Healing Patch, grieving children find that hope and healing are possible through connecting with others. Volunteers are the heart of the program, and new volunteers are needed to meet the growing number of families finding support at the Healing Patch.

The Healing Patch is a free program that began in 2006 to offer peer support services for children and families after the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, or other loved ones. Group sessions are held in Blair and Cambria counties.

Leadership Huntingdon County Graduation

On Thursday, June 6 we held our Leadership Huntingdon County Graduation at the Stone Church for the Brethren. Dr. Patricia Shope spoke and gave a parting gift to the graduates. Following a wonderful dinner, Chamber Board Chair, Lynn Conaway gave remarks and presented the Graduates with a gift. Leadership Huntingdon County Alumni, Mike Fleck, was our graduation speaker. Adam Pfingstl, LHC Co-Chair recognized the alumni and steering committee in attendance. The class presented their projects on #HCoAdventures and St. Vincent de Paul. LHC Alumni, Lisa Baer and Adam Pfingstl then presented the class with their certificates, a gift of one year of free Chamber membership, a yearbook and LHC mug. Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
