Save the Date! 2025 Colorado River Forum in Santa Fe

CSG West’s annual Colorado River Forum convenes legislators from Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming to explore the most pressing issues facing the Colorado River Basin.

Appointed members examine a wide range of issues, including water quantity and quality, state by state snapshots of water management strategies, threats from aquatic and other invasive species, and engagement with tribal leaders on priority concerns. Together, they develop regional approaches to collaboratively influence the rule-making that will govern the Colorado River into the future.

We are excited to announce that this year’s Colorado River Forum—chaired by New Mexico Senate President Pro Tempore Mimi Stewart—will take place November 12–14 at the Roundhouse, New Mexico’s state capitol in Santa Fe. Lodging will be available at La Fonda on the Plaza.

Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details on this important regional event!

“Snow Drought” Conditions Raise Water Supply Concerns in the West

Rapid snowmelt across the Western U.S. has caused snowpack to disappear up to four weeks early in some areas, quickly shifting conditions in parts of Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico from above average to “snow drought.” The early melt has also led to reduced water supply forecasts for the Colorado River Basin.

Lake Shasta Hits Capacity for Third Year, Boosting California Water Outlook

Lake Shasta, California’s largest reservoir, has reached full capacity for the third consecutive year, thanks to an unusual streak of wet winters. This bodes well for the state's water supply, especially for cities and agriculture served by the Central Valley Project.
