Letter from our Executive Director Jan Paul

Unleash Your LSS Super Powers

We began this LSS class year with a fun, whimsical alumni engagement theme--"Unleash Your LSS Super Powers."  If you stopped by our booth at the Sandy Springs Festival you saw our superhero cutouts and maybe even posed for a photo.  Yet, with all that swirls around us today, maybe it's more than just a popular theme.

It's hard to comprehend the natural or man-made disasters unleashed around us in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and Las Vegas.  The images we see are difficult to view; the short and long term effects are impossible to fathom.  Yet, in the chaos we see heroes who step forward to help complete strangers when they need it the most.

These events make us question how can we make a real difference. Leadership is essential--it matters.  It is essential to meet the challenges we face, both large and small.
Whether it is volunteering for disaster relief, rebuilding homes of our fellow citizens or reading a book with an eager second grader in one of our Sandy Springs schools--we can make a difference in our community and the world around us.

Without trivializing all that is happening, it is imperative that we unleash our super powers to maximize our collective impact.  Our positive leadership has exponential reach!

Kickoff Fiesta Launched the Class of 2018

Last month, 125 alumni, guests and sponsors
gathered at Heritage Sandy Springs  to enjoy  a fabulous evening and cheer on the new class and hear from Jeffrey Stepakoff, the  President of the Georgia Film Academy, who spoke to the group about the growth and opportunities in the industry .

Closing the evening with a hilarious rendition of
life in the class program, was Class of 2017 graduation speaker, Fred Ferrand, who kept
the audience laughing all the way to the end.

Movies by Moonlight 2017 was a Great Success!

Another fun summer outdoor  movie series is in
t he books.
The 13th Movies by Moonlight a gain entertained Sandy Springs families with three nights of outdoor entertainment.  Over 5,500 people attended the movie series and enjoyed the carnival-type activities.  Kids flocked to the character look-alikes while schools and organizations performed for the crowd.  Many thanks to our wonderful alumni volunteers and sponsors, without whom MBM could not be such a success.

See you next year!

Leadership Sandy Springs Representing at the
Sandy Springs Festival

LSS alumni greeted many festival goers and entertained questions about the program.  Many visitors signed up to  receive more information, and expressed their interest in the Class of 2019.  Asked why they're interested, most said they had a friend in the class, had heard or read about it, or had attended Movies By Moonlight or Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs.
Our super hero standups were a hit with alumni, parents and kids alike.
