Currently the Recreation Superintendent for the City of Colonial Heights, Matt has been working in the Recreation field for 15 years. His favorite part about the field of recreation is tackling something new everyday! The most challenging part, for him, especially in his current role, is balancing the need for new facilities with the need for rehabilitating aging and deteriorating facilities.
LTI has played a major role in his career. Matt attended LTI as a student in 2006 as well as in 2008. The most rewarding part of attending for Matt was the relationships built with housemates as well as the invaluable information and training received. The relationships he built have lasted throughout the years he's spent in this field.
In addition to attending as a participant, Matt has served on the LTI Committee since 2012, and was most recently the Co-Chair for the 2014 Institute.
Attending and now serving on the LTI Committee, Matt says his eyes were opened to what VRPS does for its members. The work being done by VRPS Board Members and the Committees they oversee is important to all of us as professionals in the parks & recreation field.
