A Message from Generations United's Board Chair

Generations United Members and Friends,

Donna Butts, who has been at the helm of Generations United for 27 remarkable years, leading with vision and dedication, has announced her intent to step down as executive director. Under Donna's leadership, Generations United has become a leading force in promoting intergenerational solutions that connect people across age groups, building stronger and more inclusive communities.

While this is certainly a significant moment for the organization, Generations United is strong, with a gifted and dedicated staff and board, terrific long-time funding partners, and valued members and friends. Jaia Peterson Lent, Sheri Steinig, and Ana Beltran, who have each played pivotal roles in shaping the organization, and advancing our programs, will continue alongside our other excellent staff. We are fortunate to have their experience and passion guiding us during this time of transition.

A robust process is in place to manage this leadership transition thoughtfully and with care. Generations United’s mission is more important than ever, and we are committed to protecting the strong culture Donna has helped build. A search committee comprised of board members, led by Barb Quaintance from AARP, has been established to oversee this process. To ensure we identify the right person to lead us into the future, we have partnered with The Find, a firm experienced in national executive searches.

If you know someone who embodies the passion and vision needed to lead Generations United into its next chapter, we encourage you to share their name with Ben Lerner at ben@thefindpartners.com. The selection and transition process will take place over the next year, with Donna committed to staying with us throughout. We are just beginning discussions about her role once the transition is complete, and we will keep you updated as plans evolve.

In times of division and uncertainty, our work connecting and elevating the value of all generations is needed more than ever. Together, we can honor Donna’s incredible legacy and continue building a future where all generations are valued and connected. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey.

Sincerely,

Joe Cuticelli
