Leadership West Bend
is a community stewardship program that began in 1990 and is sponsored by the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce. To date, the program has welcomed more than 496 graduates and created a strong alumni network of individuals with a wide range of experience and knowledge ready to serve the community. The primary purpose of Leadership Greater West Bend is to seek out emerging leaders in the West Bend area and prepare them for positions of public influence and decision making. Candidates should convey desire, motivation and interest to serve the West Bend area in a Leadership role. They will also serve as role model for future leaders of our community.

Environment Day - October 17, 2019
|
Environment Day
in October was filled with many eye-opening facts about how our City handles matters of the environment.
Jeremy Baerenwald
gave us a through tour of the
Waste Water Treatment Plant
that left us all more conscious about what we flush and allow to go down the drain. We then visited
American Metal and Paper Recycling.
Dennis Fechter
showed us how metals, plastic, cardboard, and paper are collected and disposed of in a safe, environmentally friendly way. We enjoyed lunch in the beautiful
Lac Lawrann Conservancy Maurin Center
where Conservation Supervisor,
Courtney Cox
, and
Gary Britton
, Friends of Lac Lawrann Conservancy Volunteers enlightened us on the history of and opportunities to preserve this beautiful land. We also had a wonderful hike through the conservancy and were in awe of the beauty that surrounded us in this free-to-the-public City Park.
Jay Shambeau,
our City Administrator and interim Park and Rec. Director met us at
Riverside Park
where we learned about all that the West Bend Parks have to offer. We ended the day by playing a friendly game of Disc Golf.

Alumni Opportunities to Get Involved
|
|
Leadership West Bend Alumni Association Membership:
The Leadership Alumni Association exists to identify emerging leaders in the greater West Bend area and, under the auspices of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, operate a program designed to prepare selected candidates for positions of influence and decision making.
The West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce and the Association carry out and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Leadership West Bend Program, attend to the needs and requirements of the current class, facilitate monthly programs and undertake all other activities defined by the Board of Directors of both organizations.
Any graduate from the Leadership West Bend Leadership Program is eligible for active membership in the Association.
Each Member in good standing shall have one vote in matters of the Association.
Active Alumni are invited to the yearly Alumni Social as well as to help with the planning of curriculum and to host Curriculum Days.
Alumni members will be invited to the Annual Meeting which is held during the May Board Meeting prior to graduation day.
Your membership renewal opportunity will be sent via email in January!
|
|
Alumni Board of Directors:
The Leadership Association is made up of a President, President-Elect, Past-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The Board of Directors has at least eleven (11) and no more than sixteen (16) elected Directors. To be Directors you must be an active members of the Association and will have one vote in matters of the Board.
Three (3) Directors will be elected by majority vote of the current Directors in office at the May Board Meeting and confirmed at the Leadership West Bend Graduation Ceremony.
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquaint yourself with a working Board of Directors and give you a voice in how the Leadership Program should run.
|
|
|
Curriculum Planning & Hosting:
|
|
Past graduates who are members of the Leadership Association can:
- Help plan curriculum days along with the Alumni Board of Directors.
- Serve as a Host for curriculum days to provide leadership, guidance, and continuity throughout the actual day, and manage the agenda.
This is an excellent opportunity to provide direction in curriculum for the Leadership Program and a way to lead by Hosting a day.
