New Commission on Ministry Chair

The Rev. Brian Fidler is the new chair of the commission on ministry. He replaces the Rev. Terry Dirbas, who has served faithfully for the past three years in this role. A graduate of Yale Divinity School, Brian was ordained a priest in 1982 and served a three-year curacy at a parish in New Jersey, followed by 35 years as chaplain and teacher in five different Episcopal schools. He has recently retired after serving The Bishop’s School in this diocese for seven years. A lifelong educator, Brian has taught in the disciplines of world religions, ethics, biblical studies, service-learning, and history; he taught a segment on wisdom literature in the diocesan School for Ministry, and he has served as a mentor to school chaplains through the National Association of Episcopal Schools. Brian joined the Commission on Ministry in January of this year.

Director of Formation and Transition

The Rev. Laura Sheridan-Campbell, DMin, is the new director of formation and transition. In this role, Laura is responsible for all transition work with clergy and congregations, formational opportunities throughout the diocese, and collaborating with congregations to build healthy faith communities. She will also serve as rector of the School for Ministry, and complete other duties, as assigned. She has served as the vicar of Holy Cross, Carlsbad for over eight years, nurturing and rebuilding the community after painful divisions in 2006. She has also served on the standing committee and as chair of the commission on ministry. Please join us in welcoming Laura to the diocesan staff. 

Promotion to Accountant

Diana Rubi has been promoted from accounting assistant to accountant. She served in her previous role for four years. She handles entries to accounting systems, payroll and employee benefits, among other financial tasks. She is a softball mom to her daughter, Sophie, and enjoys singing and long walks.

Promotion to Registrar

Alyson Terry has been promoted from temporary registrar to registrar. She found our office through a local temp agency, and quickly proved her skills and accuracy. She handles all registrar duties, including updating contact information in the diocesan database, tracking parochial reports, issuing confirmation certificates and supporting the canon to the ordinary. She is a San Diego native, has one daughter, and enjoys watching SDSU women's basketball games.

New Graphic Designer & Administrative Services Specialist

Allan Alivio is the new graphic design and administrative services specialist. With a strong graphic design skills, Allan also knows his way around websites, marketing strategies, and print projects. He most recently worked for Wamberg Genomic Advisors, a genetic research and technology company in La Jolla. He is the proud father of a two-year-old who keeps him and his wife on their toes. Welcome, Allan!
