Veterans Day 2024

KCS Honors Veterans on Veterans Day 2024

An all-school choir, readings, recitations and reflection highlighted the November 11 Veterans Day commemoration in the Comet gymnasium. Students and staff participated in a number of activities leading up to and during the special event:

  • Wall of Honor - Students and staff gathered family photos and stories of service members to display a Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor photos were displayed together with the name, war of significance, service branch, and years of service.
  • All-School Choir - Kindergarten through grade 12 singers performed “America the Beautiful,” arranged by Jill Gallina and the “Star Spangled Banner.” Students prepared for the musical performance in their elementary music class or choir class. Fifth grade students took on speaking roles to emphasize the importance of Veterans Day.
  • Little White TableThe program featured the read-aloud of A Little White Table by Margot Theis Raven, to respectfully honor missing and POW service members. A display of the table was featured in the lobby. (pictured above)
  • Pledge of Allegiance - Students concluded the program by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Thank you if you attended this year’s program. Kaleidoscope Charter School looks forward to honoring service members in the community at the 2025 Veterans Day program.

Service Project Delivers Smiles

Stuffies for Kids service project

Check out Alexa's story: https://alexasaltruisticstuffedanimals.webflow.io/

For the third straight year, KCS Grades K-5 have participated in the Alexa’s Altruistic Stuffed Animals service learning project. KCS student Alexa started this project after receiving a stuffed animal during a stay at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. In total, Alexa’s project has donated more than 1,000 stuffed animals, many from KCS. Thank you for helping gather 127 stuffed animals for Stuffies for Kids! We hope these will bring joy to the children receiving them at the Mayo Clinic.

Leader in Me

Nurturing Our Future Leaders

At KCS, we believe every member of your family has greatness. In 2024-25, we implemented the Leader in Me (LiM) with students to provide the framework for continued greatness. LiM complements KCS’s emphasis on service and growth to become healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring people - the qualities of a great leader.

"I can't stress enough how important we feel this program will be for students," said Brad Sellner, KCS Executive Director. "Learning and using the 8 Habits of Highly Effective People will allow students to flourish as they develop their unique gifts and talents."
