Neighbors,
On Wednesday, I participated in a meeting to transfer leadership of the powerful Legislative Budget & Audit Committee (LB&A) to Sen. Natasha von Imhof. This is good news for District 23 because Sen. von Imhof is our State Senator. I was honored to chair the committee during the previous legislature and I'm excited to serve beside Sen. von Imhof as the vice-chair of the committee for the next two years.
The Legislative Budget and Audit Committee doesn't get a lot of attention but it's a very important committee because it oversees the auditing functions of the Alaska State Legislature. These audits make sure state money is spent wisely and that government services are provided efficiently. During my time as chair of the committee, we uncovered numerous instances of waste and mismanagement of state resources. I'm looking forward to continuing this work because for government to function properly it must be subject to rigorous oversight and government officials must be accountable for their actions.
