Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share that Dr. Anthony Ding has been appointed as the next Program Director for the UCSF Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. Ding is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and a dual fellowship-trained specialist in orthopaedic trauma and in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery. A graduate of our own residency program, he has been an integral member of the UCSF faculty since 2018, serving at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He was a past recipient of the James O Johnston Teaching Award and also held the role of Director of Residency Mentorship and Diversity Affairs, where he has advanced efforts in mentorship, equity, and inclusive excellence.

Dr. Ding brings to this role a deep commitment to education and mentorship, as well as a unique understanding of our program’s strengths and mission. His clinical expertise and his thoughtful approach to leadership will be a tremendous asset to our residents and faculty alike.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Hubert Kim, who has served with distinction as Residency Program Director for the past 21 years. His leadership has left a lasting mark on the program and the many residents he has mentored over the years.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Ding on this new appointment and thanking Dr. Kim for his outstanding service.

Warmly,

Ben
